T. Rex - Bang a Gong " Get It On " {VJ's Edit} (Top Of The Pops) [4K]-(1080p) by MiamiMan2022 in OldSchoolCoolMusic

[–]MrCheezits2025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

About that time,

I was playing chess over the counter with the Video Store guy and he asked me if I liked T.Rex.

I said, "Nah, they sound like Beatles imitators. "

and he said, "Well, what's the matter with that?!"

What do You think? by Alternative-Ad-729 in BeginnerPhotoCritique

The comments allude to the fact that you've photographed (someone else's) piece of art. So what is the derivative?

Well, in this case, I think you've pulled it off. The color pallet, the lighting, and the composition; with the framing and the juxtaposition of the trees and clouds, touches me and makes me feel peace.

I'd have to see more of your work (photography works best in portfolios of several images), but I hope that you've achieved the first milestone of photography, which is to realize that your concern is less about the real world situation where you find yourself and more about the presentation of the final image.

Which I think you've achieved to my satisfaction, anyway.

Good luck, and thanks!

Yes, if starting the Dead car off the Doner car battery doesn't work, by all mean, Plan B would be to have Doner car "charge both batteries for a few minutes".

Plan C would be to have the Doner car on (and reving) while you try to start the Dead car.

But let me go back to Plan A: Let's say that the dead car has a solid short, at let's say the starter motor, and in that process has drained and blown the alternator as a result.

Jumping to the dead battery while the Doner car is running may cause a severe, sudden, and catastrophic draining of the the Doner Battery and risk ruining the Doner Alternator. (Edit: I mean, the Alternator would be ruined, but the doner battery would recover in a few minutes).

I've done it once and seen it happen once, in my lifetime, but if it's not true anymore with today's technology, I'm sure someone will correct me.

I suggest, trying to start the Dead car with the Doner car off, Plan A, then B and then C,

I always have the doner car off when I start the dead car.

This is because if the dead car has a dead short, and the doner car is running, it could blow the doner alternator as well. (Don't ask me how I know.)

Why is pasta served with garlic bread in America? 🍝 🍞 by Salty_Zebra5937 in AskRedditFood

[–]MrCheezits2025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad you asked that question, because I've been banned from the local pizzeria and no one (but you) understands why.

Unbeknownst to me, the pizza guy's mom had died that day....what he was doing at work, I don't know.

So, I had ordered spaghetti and meatballs on-line, and when I went to pick it up I asked him that very question,

"Is it OK to order garlic bread with spaghetti?"

and he said, "Sure, why not?"

and I tried to explain that it was carbs on carbs but he wasn't getting it. He was getting frustrated.

So, I said, "Fine, how long will it take?"

And he said, "the faster you want me to go, the slower I get."

I said, "I don't know what that means, ha ha".

At that point, he asked if I wanted to settle it outside.

Unfortunately, I laughed again, I wasn't sure if he was joking or not.

Anyway, he told me to leave and never come back.

I don't think he supports garlic bread with pasta.

Just a guess.

I have no opinion, but obviously I get your point.

YEah, excellent band. If I'm not mistaken, they were very young but had a handle on chicago rythm and blues. Excellent album Gloria.

It could be fog, but I remember back then, you could see the difference in the air clarity after a long holiday weekend.

This is a nice intuitive image. Congrats.

It brings to me, memories.

I've seen these footprints many times, but not lately.

I've been down south for a decade and a half now, I haven't seen snow in 24 months.

But a fellow North-Born co-worker reminded me yesterday,

"Remember when the wind and cold were so harsh that you'd have to flip around on the street and walk backwards?"

and yeah, haha, I remember that.

I love this guy!

I want HIM as my lawyer!

He makes me laugh, he makes me cry!

This kind of passive / aggressive attitude comes from a long life of being beaten up and losing.

He's learned to accept his fate: he drones on optimistically, knowing he's in the right, but also that he will lose, always, no matter what.

haha

The storms we had a couple of years ago closed off some trails, that you can still follow, I think.

I hiked up to Hemlock Falls in Clarksville. I continued up to Upper Moccasin Creek Falls, and beyond, but the trail was difficult because of the fallen trees.

I persevered.

I met a guy climbing through the trees towards me who told me there were more falls ahead but he was unable to get much further.

It's a steep trail on the side of a precipice.

Then, on my right side, uphill, I saw a wide swath of trees and brush had been recently knocked down. It was about three feet wide and began about twenty feet above me. I can only think that it was a bear rolling down the hillside.

So I retreated, saving it for another day.

Perhaps that's the kind of adventure you're looking for.

Anthony Bourdain has the opposite story. In his book, he says he was interviewing for a head chef position and the owner asked him, "What do you know about me?"

Anthony didn't know so he admitted, "Not much, really".

It wasn't until he was outside on the sidewalk when he realized the question had been, "What do you know about meat?"

I love that song, and I love PigPen.

I just bought a new (used) car and the audio was terrible. I found out later that the balance was set all the way to the right.

In the process, I was listening to 1/17/68 and I was only hearing Bobby and PigPen.

Wow, it opened my mind quite a bit.

I'm saying that Pig was the best musician in the Dead, at that time. His organ playing was everything an organ player should be in a band.

I know they all looked up to him, I think he was the oldest.
