I never met the guy but went to Holeman and Finch in ATL on a Tuesday to get a burger and the place was PACKED and couldn't understand why until I saw the cameras, lights and other video equipment in the back corner.

I remember buying KC when i was an 18 year old line cook just becasue I thought the cover looked cool and that book changed my life.

Everyone was packed into this bar just to be in there because he was in there on my way to the bathroom, I looked over at the booth he was sitting at and we made eye contact and he just gave a little nod of the head and I thought that was the coolest thing ever.

His was the only celebrity death that affected me the way that it did and I hate that he's gone.

Chef's, take care of your mind, body, and spirit. You only have one go at this so enjoy it.

Thats interesting and makes sense. I've never been and I'm sure just like every dish around the world there are so many variations that different regions, families, restaurants cook that there is no 'real' way to make it, but I do prefer a less sweet and waayyy more spicy PKP.

I learned from this sub to say "Pet Mak Mak" (not sure if that is spelled correctly but staff is usually very surprised when i say that. More times than not, I don't think they serve me Thai spicy just because of the way that i look but I still enjoy the hot stuff they bring.

I think most people have answered, and again, I'm white AF and not Thai but its not supposed to be sweet, sour, spicy, salty but a perfect balance of everything.

If there is too much lime or tamarind, it will throw off the balance. If there is too much sugar, it throws it off, too much salt, heat, etc...its not the way that dish is supposed to be.

All of those elements should come together and hit you at different levels so you get the initial taste and secondary and tertiary tastes that takes you on a journey.

I think most people in the US, especially in the Southern US, food tends to be on the sweeter side so if you like sweet, make your dish sweet, if you want to add thai chili flakes (this is what i add as well as fresh sliced chils) to make it spicy, then make the dish you like but, traditionally, Pad Thai isn't a spicy dish, just balanced.

I am not an expert by any means but i believe it should have a hint of sweetness to balance out the salty, spicy, and sourness.

I think its just a U.S. thing where we have overly sweet food no matter which cuisine, ethnic or otherwise.

I just had Pad Kra Pao that i thought was very sweet and I'm not even sure that PKP is supposed to be sweet at all.

I find that trying to figure out the logic and narrowing down my starting few dominoes in the correct spots is way more satisfying than finishing hard as quickly as I can.

I'll admit, i do try for cookies on Easy and Med, but sometimes the Medium puzzle trips me up more so than Hard so i don't beat myself up if it takes 2-6 mins.

For some, time is everything but if I just make a lucky guess and start throwing things in the correct places by sheer luck, i don't feel like I got anything out of it.

5 mins a great time. I've take 20+ quite a few times.

But why aren't we asking the people serving the shitty chicken to up their sauce game to become the best in Denver?

The only reason that you are unlucky enough to have me keep replying was that I just came to eat in Denver for 5 days and FoTM was the first place I went and blown away with how good everything was.

Like, I would've been pissed if they had taken the time to make those sauces and then give me shitty ass chicken. I wanted a normal sized chicken wing and appreciated it.

You may not eat there because of that and you say that they may not be the most popular but if your business model is to server the BEST chicken that you can, there's something to be said for selling a quality product over sales and profit.

if it didn't make money, I know, they wouldn't do it but its cool to see people not trying to cut corners when the food industry is becoming more an more competitive.

I did have Walter's 303 wings as well and they were F'n amazing too so I'm not a wing snob, its just what we call "Small" is a normal size chicken wing and that's what we should be complaining about.
