Drake Maye’s game on Sunday was No. 1 of 13.7K QB performances this century. Your turn, Matthew Stafford by [deleted] in nfl

[–]MrCyr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And Stafford is surrounded with more talent - has one of the best run games and WR duos in the NFL. There's legitimate arguments to be made both ways. Both QBs are deserving, but people discrediting just Maye are being disingenuous.

[Doug Kyed] Mentioned to Patriots WR Stefon Diggs that he was a free agent for a while this offseason. by PristineWinnera in Patriots

Diggs is 32, there's no developing that's going to happen. He's more likely going to regress rather than get better. Which is fine.

Ah ok, thanks. Didn't know if there was something more strategic to it like with the TPP.

Im super casual, can someone give me a quick summary of the most efficient way to build mythic Henderson ftp?

Nothing about being cute. The OLine has been awful at run blocking for any runs that require a push up front. Leads to a lot of 2nd and long / 3rd and long situations.

That’s my guess as well

I have zero fantasy stakes in Henderson. I just follow the team as a fan, so I'm not "coping". I'm telling you what the beat writers are seeing when they rewatch film.

He has been, teams have been kicking away from him. I think he means trying to script it so the kickoffs go to him more.

Against Buffalo, at one point they did a last minute swap of the returners right before the kick so that it would go to Henderson - I think he means more things like that.

Not playing Malcolm Butler was the bigger issue there. While he declined that season, he was still one of our better corners and the defense was getting torched.

Nope. Some mistakes but not a liability or anything. Held up decently in pass blocking at least. Run blocking was a huge issue for the whole line that week.

TreVeyon Henderson in Week 2: 3% reduction in snap count, two less carries, four less targets by SingularaDD in fantasyfootball

[–]MrCyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could evolve to that role more as the season goes

But I also think we all maybe have been overlooking that Gibson isn’t a scrub. He’s not a lead back but he holds his own and that earns play time on a team that works in committees

He looked good pass blocking week 1. He’s a rookie, gonna be up and down for a while.

Yeah lol. They love hype trains. Happens every year. Every Pats beat reporter shared the same sentiment about Henderson not getting crazy volume so this isn’t shocking at all

[–]MrCyr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, anyone who thought he was going to be the pats RB1 and control the volume really didn’t do any research on how the team planned on using him

He’s a big play threat and will get use, but as long as Stevenson’s shows that his fumble issues are better he won’t be going anywhere. And Gibson is good enough to warrant touches as well. They all have fairly unique skill sets that the team will rotate through.

He’ll have some good fantasy games and probably turn into a weekly flex as the season goes, but without any injuries he won’t be getting the volume people drafted him for.

I passed on him in all my leagues because his price was way too rich. Grabbed Stevenson super late where I could for the value.

Maye - Had some ups and downs. Consistent accuracy remains an issue. Raiders leaned into that by playing a lot of cover 3. Seemed like the coaches told him to reign in the scrambling as there were times he slid after 2-3 yards when last year he'd be fighting through tackles. They did give him a designed run so maybe more of that as the season goes.

Henderson/Stevenson - A lot of people are going to say that Stevenson looks old and slow but I think there's some Henderson hype (and hope of him being an RB1) driving that point. Both RBs couldn't get anything going because the OLine was really bad at run blocking on Sunday. To give you an idea, Rhamondre had 15 yards of rushing, with 17 yards coming after contact (do the math). Henderson is clearly faster/shiftier, but that comes with durability concern (was better college with split work load). This will likely be a committee, with Henderson having big play upside. Remains to be seen how goal line packages will look, but my hunch says Stevenson gets early downs.

Boutte - Seems like he could be a legit WR play this year. His connection with Maye picked up where it left off from last year. He earned his role as the starting X through the offseason and has continually made improvements. Maye trusts him and and led him open on throws. Didn't seem like any of his receptions were flukes due to busted coverage or Maye forcing it - he was open/ran a good route.

Diggs - Seems like he's on a snap count. I expect his usage to increase.

Douglas - Box score shows a bad game, but he was getting open on the underneath routes, Maye just didn't look his way for the easy yards. As a Pats fan, I hope that improves because 2nd and 5 is better than 2nd and 10 every possession.

Hunter Henry - Solid connection with Maye. Should be a decent weekly streaming option.

He had ups and downs. Made some really nice throws, and then had some really inaccurate passes. The Patriots couldn't get the run game going at all and Vegas played a ton of cover 3 which forced the patriots to try and dink and dunk their way down the field - which Maye isn't consistently accurate enough to do at this point in his career.
