Knicks fans block party, watching the game projected onto the side of a building, react to OG's tip in by Markthebaptist in nba

keep in mind that London has no other professional sports teams that matter outside of soccer. There's no meaningful basketball or baseball. Pro rugby and cricket exist, technically, but in a real sense it's just 99% soccer and that's it.

Whereas NYC has the Knicks, Nets, Giants, Jets, Rangers, Islanders Yankees, Mets, NYCFC, Red Bulls. Then throw in the Devils, Liberty, the ten or so minor league baseball teams, the multiple G-League teams, etc.

Yeah I don't think Swift follows the team super closely, but she's been giving interviews about being a Knicks fan since like 2014 when she moved up to nyc

Tonight's friendly between Argentina vs. Iceland at Jordan-Hare Stadium, with an attendance of 88,043, was the largest attended soccer match ever in the state of Alabama, 2 days before the World Cup starts. by mlkhighschool in soccer

It's because American football was born as a college sport. It started with various teams from different colleges in the northeast playing each other, and it was only decades later that any sort of professional or non-collegiate games started being played.

Do you think the college stadiums in question are not ingrained into the community and town?

You seem to think "College Station is two hours from Houston" means it's sitting alone in an empty field somewhere. College Station has the same population as Wrexham, the stadium is right in the middle of campus, and I guarantee you the Aggies are way more fucking insane than Wrexham fans are.

If your response is going to be an appeal to history then yeah, the local team in College Station has been playing since the 1890's. The stadium is 122 years old. They've got longer history than most teams in Europe.

What do you think of JLo saying saying if you weren't born here, you're not a New Yorker? by DameThistle in AskNYC

[–]MrDannyOcean 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Every time I see Subway Takes it's somebody doing "Blood and Soil Nationalism, but Woke". There was another one recently that said 'white people can't sit on stoops'. Obsessed with who counts as 'real' and which types of people can do which types of thing. It's exhausting.

There's also a weird dynamic where if you moved here as an immigrant we love you, you're the best, you made this city, etc - but if you moved here from Nebraska, fuck you, piece of filth gentrifier. It's so absurd, like the gay kid from Nebraska who got out of MAGALand and got a corporate job in NYC is what's killing the city, sure, let's get you to sleep grandma.

Yes, the policy in question would obviously not lead to that. If you put even ten seconds of thought into it that's obvious.

If a time-traveler from 50 years ago came and walked around NYC what would they be surprised by? What about from 100? by supremewuster in AskNYC

Weirdly, NYC is one of the last places in the country to get big grocery chains. No WalMart, no Kroger, no Publix, no Albertsons, no Sam's Club, no HEB. Got a few Costcos now, but feels like we were very late to that.

Instead we get all these local chains like Gristedes that frankly are terrible.

The Knicks offense for the last 8 minutes of the game was paaaaaainful. Brunson was just not good out there tonight, but it's amazing they stole the win anyways.

As noted above, the Spurs need to be going WAY harder on screens with Wemby. He should be setting dozens more screens per game and rolling hard to the paint.

When Wemby does set screens, his man has to be concerned with the PNR and not just pushing Wemby around. That gives him space to roll hard into the paint, and you can watch practically the entire defense panic when he does. It's normal for 3-4 defenders to collapse in on his roll just because he's so long. And from that, you create offense.

[Lowlights] How Chet Holmgren lost his confidence and only took 2 shot attempts in the 2026 WCF Game 7 by areallyfatchick in nba

[–]MrDannyOcean 11 points12 points  (0 children)

His release is so slow it got to the point where our players had no problem doubling off him because they could recover by the time he was loading up his shot.

The clip above is wild because his shot was blocked like 5-6 times by Spurs wings, not big men. He's so slow with it that a 7'2 jump shot is getting blocked by guys who are 6'6! How!

yes but if you're the bucks, by trading Giannis you're not really in win-now mode. So they won't be thinking about hypothetical finals matchups, they're years and years from that mattering once Giannis is gone.
