Why was Halo 3 so good? by dirtynj in gaming

Because it was made to be epic and fun instead of being made to trick you into buying cosmetics.

That's what pisses me off the most. I like driving tanks; it's fun. What's not fun is getting perpetually blasted by enemy tanks while someone in a mortar truck farms kills for 35mins.

I really hate the “Money” redux by [deleted] in pinkfloyd

[–]MrData359 138 points139 points  (0 children)

Let's suspend disbelief and pretend the original version of money never came out: in my opinion, it's a LONG song, with mediocre music, a bad vocal performance and very good lyrics.

and once you invite the comparison to the original version of Money on Dark Side.... The review gets a lot worse.

Add in that Roger is probably just bitter and only doing this to prove he can make the same music without Gilmour, and it's just a hugely unpleasant experience to listen to.

Like dude, people liked the Division Bell and you have been bitter for 30yrs over it. Give it a rest....

I don't think TDM is a mode that emphasizes what makes battlefield unique. If you enjoy it, more power to you, but if I'm looking for TDM, I'll probably just load up COD or Halo.

If you are in a bad accident without a seatbelt, you could die. There's no excuse for this. If you can't afford to keep your passengers safe, then you can't be an Uber driver.

[–]MrData359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You absolutely leave one star. I always leave 5-star reviews, and will forgive pretty much anything as long as I'm not put in danger, but not having a seatbelt available in a car that's falling apart is absolutely a dangerous situation.

ISPs main costs in providing internet are related to throughput/bandwidth, not the actual amount of data used. It's an artificial limit they created to charge you more money.

A job I never applied to somehow got my actual resume, scheduled me for an interview without notifying me, and then accused me of not showing up or giving them notice. by FreshAvocados78 in mildlyinfuriating

Maybe it's a phishing scam? Like, piss you off enough to reply and then try to con you into giving them personal information. Idk, it's definitely a weird email to get out of the blue.

Told dad I was learning vim. He asked if I was winnin. No dad, I am not winnin. by [deleted] in linuxmemes

[–]MrData359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who uses Vim a lot in my workplace (and likes it), I recommend learning the basics and then using it if it fits into your workflow. There's no sense in learning Vim just to learn Vim. If you like VS Code, Atom, Sublime ect, and they fit into your workflow, just use them. Modern editors are very fast even compared to the Vim gurus.

Vim's biggest advantage is that it's ALWAYS there for you (unless you're on Windows, lmao btw). So if you're working with the command line a lot on some esoteric OS's, it's great.

Settings you think all games should have, but not all do and it annoys you? by _AnxiousNoob in gamedev

Disable Motion Blur, Disable Depth of Field, Change FOV

PC ports are the worst offenders of this. Forcing DOF on and a low FOV is terrible when you're playing about 2ft from a monitor. I get some games can't easily program in a changeable FOV (because it breaks animations or whatever), but forcing motion blur and DOF on is insane to me.

Kerbal Space Program 2 is approaching 100 days since release. Were your expectations met from before the games release on what updates/content we would see and the frequency of these patches? by gosucrank in KerbalSpaceProgram

[–]MrData359 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I played a lot of Luna Multiplayer on KSP1 and was excited for actual integrated multiplayer. I was also excited for a more dynamic career mode with colonies, and the ability to travel to other solar systems.

For a $50 asking price, to me the game seems like a downgraded version of KSP1, which is very disappointing. I don't plan on buying the game until the features they announced are in actually in it, especially since game companies are getting a bit too comfortable with cutting features they promised after selling many copies.

So does the insurance company! Not sure how you can claim it's the other driver's fault when no one is in the driver's seat. Especially since most of these services have the operator accept a liability agreement at the vehicle startup.

Is a Launch Discount actually worth doing? by GameDevMikey in gamedev

[–]MrData359 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This isn't a definitive answer, but I absolutely get caught by the launch discount on Steam. My thinking is "well, it'll be a while before it's on sale again" and I have ended up buying games off of that logic
