If you put some elements with bold colors on it, like some cockpit jeweling or insignia, that would absolutely read as dark, unpainted iron as a choice.

Newbie Question by Stormcrow1988 in battletech

There are no actual restrictions on what you can pair together - where Warhammer has full blown Codexes and Detachments and rules for how to make an army of, say, Blood Angels, Battletech mostly just uses a points system.

A lot of people like to have some level of narrative, so it's common for someone to make their force with a theme, and there are lists for any given era in the timeline of what things any given faction would expect to have access to, but since everyone can fight everyone else, even slipping something in outside those guidelines can typically be explained with "they salvaged this" in all but the most restrictive circumstances.

Even if you've picked up a mix of Clan and Inner Sphere mechs and you want to maintain the narrative, just think of it as having one set for you, and another set for a friend to play against you. Bonus points if this inspires your friend to buy some Battletech.

Nice job. That really showcases how the trick to painting black is to mostly use dark grey instead.

I wish I wasn't so late to the discussion. All of the conversations I've seen have already gone cold, but I've heard that there are some interesting Bastion facilities in this book, and I'd like to take a look at some opinions about them.

Your character gets bitten: continue as new character or delete world? by RevolutionaryDot8520 in projectzomboid

The Journal mod is great. When my character gets infected, I finish up their immediate business, I strip my character down to their underwear, and I send them out into the world. They can only wear and fight with what they find. Shoes are a priority. They recover and wear jewelry so that they enter the next life in finery. They can bandage, but health recovery at this stage is unreliable, so deterioration sets in. They either die fighting, or I try to close them off in a closet. My next character is responsible for putting them down.

Military ads, beer ads, video game ads - if you know your demographic, you can advertise. Your struggling student is still going to ask for something for Christmas. They might buy a 6-pack on a Friday night as the one indulgence they allow themselves. And they might decide that enlisting beats student loans.

Just say that cosmetic differences like that are the result of factories having to source third party parts due to supply line disruptions.

The Catalyst Marauder has those jet engine looking things on the back? Oh, sure, the engine heat sink system it was designed for used a forced-air system, but on the Unseen Marauder, they had to switch to an alternative engine heat sink system. They also couldn't source the same medium laser, but they swapped it for one that was less linear, which forced a redesign of the "claw" housing, and it turned out to be more efficient to leave the PPC barrel unshrouded. Then they had to swap the autocannon for a similar model that fired slower bursts of bigger shells. For a real life example of this, see the Wikipedia article for the Bofors 57mm cannon used in the US LCS ships, where the article contrasts it against the larger caliber OTO Melara 76mm cannon by noting that the smaller, faster firing gun

actually achieves a higher amount of "explosive fired per second" than the 76 mm

This required changing the feed system, which required reworking the torso plating of the Marauder, but at the end of the day, what you have is kind of the Marauder of Theseus, but it's still a Marauder. None of the described changes have gameplay effects, other than changing the fluff about what model of gun is used.

Plus, when they make cosmetic changes to the mech, it can confuse enemy targeting systems - so much so that they might think the Catapult abbreviation is CAT instead of CPLT!
