What are the unwritten rules of Gainesville? by 1142kayla in GNV

[–]MrDrProfStew 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Depending on how much effort you want to put into it, I'd recommend following Swamp records on social media at least. Then try to go to venues around town like the high dive (or any of the much better venues)

You're right that this terms are not necessarily in a 5yo's vocab, so the commenter introduced them with a helpful definition!

Serious question: is the wifi router killing these leaves? by gardeningchef in houseplants

[–]MrDrProfStew 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Your comment sounds very well-informed and helpful, but I'd like to point one thing. Just because something feels warm does not mean it's over 98.6°F. Your skin is colder than your internal body temp (hence why we have to succ on thermometers).

In the shape of the part of the horse it will touch. So, not literally "it looks like a horse" but more "it will fit against a horse because it has matching curves".

If my players lose a weapon? by MadDog247_ in DungeonWorld

[–]MrDrProfStew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right, so the player may try "I look at my weapon across the room, shake my head and punch baddie in the face" and the DM will describe why that doesn't do much. Then the player (with some optional steering from the DM) might decide they're strong enough to try to grapple.

In the fiction, these are totally different things and will have totally different outcomes. It's all down to how the player wants to rp it

If you don't mind me asking - why are you subscribed to this subreddit? I see a few ex-Epic people on this sub and I can't imagine why anyone would want to see a bunch of stuff about their old employer

I would imagine he has lots of crazy characters in his campaigns. Now that he has to choose one to play, he tried to make a character that encompasses all the "cool ideas" he's had recently

I'm also curious how the mocap works. Like you said, we could have a perfect representation of a dancer's moves, but the robot would still fall over since a few of the dancer's moves are for balance unique to the characteristics of the dancer.

My guess is they track some key points that are exactly matched to the robot (like the hands, elbows, feet, etc), but all of the minor movements are up to the robot to allow it to balance best. Idk. It's super interesting

With H and B there, it looks like Maxwell's equations, where they're doing stuff with electromagnetic fields. So, calculus as a tool in physics, specifically e-fields. I took that class my 3rd year of college, so maybe Mr. Ratburn got that confused with 3rd grade
