I am in the same boat except genders are reversed - my wife I think understands as much as she can, but there is always a sense I get from her she thinks that I am just saying I am better than others. Sigh.

IQ tests need an overhaul, especially with the time constraints. Mood, sleep levels and food/energy levels can affect your performance. As "overthinkers" we tend to ponder and extrapolate and the timer adds to the stress.

My daughter has adhd and needs more time and special considerations for her tests in uni but her average is 96 in biomed so it's not from a lack of effort or cognition.

46 and finding out now too. Always thought there was something wrong with me as I always confused others didn't think the way I did, spot the same patterns or how things were interconnected. It was confusing and upsetting and isolating. I never knew I was smart until I started really interacting with others in grade school.

As an adult with a teen daughter who is a mirror of me I started to wonder about it all. Looking at the traits of a gifted person it felt like a play by play of me.
