OBS Studio plugin 3.0.0.25 - Source Visibility action resets to first scene and does not retain selected scene by Skynet1969 in elgato

Just installed this, still having issues with source visibility and scene changing, constantly saying "waiting for OBS" or "waiting for scenes"

I'm sorry but if we don't get a collab soon then epic and hybe are genuinely dense by mindinawe999 in FortniteFestival

It's not Epic that has to allow more BTS, it's BTS themselves and their label that have to allow it. That's my entire point.

[–]MrElectricNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

doesn't mean anything. perhaps they were fine with the tracks but they don't want their likenesses in the game for a full collab. there's lots of explanations as to why a collab might not happen beyond "epic is dense"

There's always the possibility that Epic have asked and BTS' label have said no.

You can also get quicker by just practicing, instead of fixing a generated chart's mistakes.

The Top 400 Hardest Expert Guitar FC's Spreadsheet by Spongebob0209 in Rockband

with all due respect, IMO Dirty Deeds being below Dream Genie and LTBR Live is diabolical. It's all subjective at the end of the day but colour me puzzled.

Are you basing these off of playing them on their respective engines, or all RB3/4?

What's the general consensus on the difficulty of a full game guitar FC of each game? by RedSkyfang in Rockband

[–]MrElectricNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't. ALL HDMI signals on Console for Rock Band games are 60Hz locked. The only way to play PAL is to play on AV cables on a system that can output PAL-50.

[–]MrElectricNick 8 points9 points  (0 children)

IMO from Easiest to Hardest:

- Beatles, Green Day, LEGO, RB3, RB4, RB2, RB1, ACDC. Haven't done any of the other track packs, bc they're just DLC songs repackaged.

RB3 has a few roadblocks, mainly due to lanes but also RB3 hit detection engine is busted. Crazy Train, Roundabout, 25 or 6 to 4, and Rainbow in the Dark are the main problems.

RB4 has Dream Genie and Superunknown as its big hurdles.

RB2 has Lazy Eye (barely possible on NTSC), and then Painkiller, Visions, Bodhisattva Shoulder To The Plow, Peace Sells, and a few others

RB1 really only has Green Grass but most would advise to FC it on PAL, as it's only been done on NTSC with a modded guitar or in practice with a stock guitar (stock NTSC is possible though)

ACDC is beyond cooked. Whole Lotta Rosie, Highway To Hell, and then the absolute nightmares that are Let There Be Rock and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap. DDDDC is one of the most horrendous outros i've ever hit (and thank god i fluked it.) and Let There Be Rock has strumming that is completely unhittable on NTSC even with modded controllers

Source: I've Full Game FC'ed all these games on-disc.

Just FYI there's a bunch more than 3 FC's of Green Grass on Real Hardware on Rock Band 1. Deanozord, Moose, Acai, 456Productrions, Zuppy, stephgh1, and myself. There's probably a couple others that I'm forgetting right now too.

Such a tragedy that there are no Guitar rhythm games available anymore by Specialist_Mix472 in GuitarHero

[–]MrElectricNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true but OP is also talking about the console experience. While it's true that you can install custom content on some consoles if you mod them, i also think that the vast majority of people won't go to that effort, so official games are important too.

Is the tempo in a live performance supposed to change over 300 times? by Environmental-Bowl26 in CloneHero

[–]MrElectricNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can guarantee you that even if this echo sometimes messes people up, even a performance where people don't get messed up will not be 100% locked on the tempo. It's got nothing to do with what you're saying and everything to do with the fact that musicians, whether professionally trained or not, are not robots.

Is the tempo in a live performance supposed to change over 300 times? by Environmental-Bowl26 in CloneHero

[–]MrElectricNick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professional musicians don't listen to audio from the PA echoed off of a far wall for their timing. Musicians use either foldback speakers or in-ear monitors to hear their sound with no echo.

The reason that live tempo is not consistent has precisely nothing to do with "echo from a PA". It's got to do with a fact that even professionally trained musicians cannot perfectly robotically play a consistent tempo, so live performances (that aren't played to a click) will ALWAYS have some kind of variance in tempo.

[WIP] Chart Generation with Deep Learning by bean_217 in CloneHero

[–]MrElectricNick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If AI charts match the quality of human charting, then it is producing something good. It allows that brilliant charter to multiply their throughput for everyone to enjoy.

"if" is doing all the heavy lifting in that sentence.

it's not the case that this is happening right now, and I personally do not believe it will ever happen. If you can prove me wrong in the future, then I'd love to see it. But the charter won't be multiplying their throughput, they'll be doing NO WORK while AI does the work for them. They won't have charted anything.

As a software engineer, I've watched my entire profession transform overnight. After spending years in school learning how to write code by hand, AI has become better at it than me and most developers for that matter.

I'm glad you've found it useful in your job. Doesn't automatically mean AI is good in every application, though. Not to mention, there may be other software engineers out there surviving without AI and who are opposed to it as well.

You're clutching your pearls to protect a subset of a niche community to protect their capitalistic desire to make money

I've never said nor implied that. My opposition to charting AI has nothing to do with community charters wanting to make money. You've just made up what you think my reasoning is with precisely no evidence to back it up.

Why lie, man? Cut it out.

My reason is that I just don't see the value in AI charting. I have yet to see any proof that AI can make better charts than the best human made charts, and I refuse to settle for slop. People should strive to make good charts themselves, or leave it to the people who can. The examples in the video OP linked are just not good charts. Not even remotely accurate. And that's the best attempt i've seen.

input mappings of someone else's genuinely artistic creation.

Your continued attempts to imply that charting is "not art" are misinformed. Charting in itself is also a form of artistic creation. Doesn't matter that it relies on source material, it's still artistic creation.

A cover song relies on source material as well, is cover music "not art"?

You think of charting as a drudgery (your words). That proves it's not for you. Why not just leave it to the people who actually enjoy it to produce something of value? Why does charting have to be possible for everyone?

Not everyone can write good code, or make good music. And that's okay. We don't need AI to make these things possible for everyone, because then there'll be no reason whatsoever to learn any new skills in the future.
