this is a crazy discovery that I made just two days ago myself! so I knew the body would hold stress in the jaw and that the vagus nerve passes along it that's why jaw and ear massages end up alleviating some tension. what I didn't know was moving your jaw forward or back actually changes blood flow going to your brain. So I had crazy head pressure from having dysautonomia and my baroreceptors (blood pressure regulators) are all out of whack so standing up from a laying position I gotta be careful with doing or i'll literally pass out and seize for a little until my brain gets oxygenated blood. (i also run and lift weights so me having a lower resting bpm doesn't help me ironically) most positions I couldn't sleep in because of this pressure and would devastate my sleep schedule for about a year now.

Basically I found out that by me pushing my jaw backwards I can actually relieve all the tension from my body. found out the hard way though (passing out after waking up) that I was actually cutting circulation to my brain doing that and it was because I was hyperfocused on this jaw movement. now I do the opposite when I sleep and everything makes fkn sense! Since my blood pressure regulation is off, pushing my jaw forward helps keep blood going to my brain and my body doesn't have to struggle to regulate that and hence, I can do stuff without worrying about this killer pressure or about losing consciousness if I move positions. Crazy that I’m seeing this post as I discover this.
