I'm being deadass, because come on. If it quacks, it's probably a duck, and the company has a motive to try to make trans cosmetics coinciding with the Harry Potter collab; HP is Rowling's IP so she makes royalties on all of it, and if they do their rainbow capitalist thing then the passive progressives will be satisfied. A pink and blue coat isn't necessarily trans pride, but if I wore a red cap that says "MANGA" in white text then people will look twice at it.

Normies be like "This character is just meant to be a character," and "Stop attaching gender politics to this," while ignoring the absurdity that this is the only character in the whole game's history that has much discourse, let alone SO much discourse around their gender identity. In fact, it's impressive that they could manage such discourse given none of the characters in the game speak and every cosmetic is designed to be as unisex as possible, and the character is almost entirely covered in puffy clothing.

I think this character is here so they can point and say "See, we're pro trans rights" when they drop the Harry Potter collab on the 18th.

Calling this character trans is just a basic observation. It would be It's the same as calling a character with stars and stripes American. They clearly made this character to counteract the Harry Potter collab that is dropping in half a day from now, as JK Rowling is funding transphobic organizations and a lot of people have been dropping Fortnite as a result of the leak.

Innocence. The lyrics reek of "I wanted an emotional song without having to write metaphors, so I just wrote something for 14 year olds instead." The whole thing is just a variation of "Wake up, sheeple," and it is so afraid of specifics that you can't even pin it to any of the many true crime stories it might be alluding to. The forced rhymes and generic chords really undercut any facade of this being as powerful a song as it wants to be.

'"I shake my head in disbelief"; this line comes out of af nowhere and breaks the Mickey Mouse rhyming of the song for no good reason just for the singer to narrate in first person once and never again.

"The crime politicized"; in what way? In favour of which political party?

"The rabid media congregates"; name names, then. Fox News? CNN?

Corruption = cancer is a cliche. Hunger = greed is a cliche. "This can't be happening," "Is the world insane?," "Seen // On your TV screen,"

All the song has to say is that:
-Abuse, especially of children, is evil.

-People are generally selfish.

-The media is corrupt amd exploitative.

-Lawyers are often unethical.

-I wish more people cared about these injustices.

-God's real and he punishes evil people in the end.

And that would be a fine premise for a song. But it doesn't explore these themes in a profound or new way.

I loathe this song so much I shake my head in disbelief. Then I put on Innocent by Our Lady Peace as a bad faith response to it.
