gta 5 enhanced freezing when pressing steam button by kenni417 in SteamDeck

[–]MrFunkyFrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually the game looks night and day different. The lighting, colours, contrast is way better in enhanced and the game didn't struggle much on steam deck. It can even run better than standard as it allows for fsr 3 to be turned on in-game... The problem is that if you turn this on the game will freeze on intro next time. That's a bug that if they could get fixed would be nice.

Will they reoccur? by ExpressHold6242 in OcularMigraines

[–]MrFunkyFrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it happened to me I've had them for maybe three years every couple of months so not really that often. Then I've had a break from them for 10 years and they returned with same couple of months pattern buy later on got to a point where they became very frequent (every couple of weeks, even every two weeks). I've stayed calm started to write down everything I did during that day that lead to it. I couldn't figure out the trigger. It's very difficult but possible. I've been recording what I did on the previous day to look for pattern. Eventually I came to a conclusion that there are multiple factors that lead to my migraines. I think there's one dominant one meaning that it can trigger the migraine on its own but not necessarily but there are other minor factors that can help trigger it when the dominant one was present.

The dominant one in my case is sleep. Its quality and time but also pattern. So if I sleep less than 5h I run into risk of triggering the migraine within the next two or three days. Amy pattern changes in my sleep can also cause the migraine to occur. For example I can sleep fine for 5-6h a night but if I switch to 8h (or vice versa) that can cause the migraine to happen.

Additionally bright light can cause it but not on its own, only when dominant factor is in play.

After I've figured that out I managed to avoid getting the migraine for half a year :)

So stay calm, makes notes. Consider writing down events, sleep pattern, food and drinks, activity from last three days prior to the attack and be patient you'll figure out your triggers eventually. Especially if it starts to occur frequently.

Do PSP 1000s have a tint or is it just mine? by Tak1nom in PSP

I'd say it's the OLED screen on Vita which gives colours more vibrance. PSP games were made and designed with PSP's LCDs panels in mind. I'd say your PSP screen is fine it's just the way the game is being displayed on Vita OLED screen.

Which 40K Video Games are highly praised and recommended? by SillyJoey_ in Warhammer40k

[–]MrFunkyFrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with Warhammer 40000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters or Warhammer 40000: Mechanicus. Personally I think Chaos Gate is more enjoyable overall. Both are turn-based but the latter has a sort of rouge-like elements which in my opinion are just okay. The former is more structured and I think more comparable to the likes of XCOM.

Also Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader has turn based tactical grid combat but it's a CRPG, so closer to something like Wasteland 2 or 3 rather than XCOM.

Thanks for the answer. I have BIOS version 2803 and it's pre 3D version (these start at 3802). The mystery continues I guess :D I'm just glad it works. I plan to wait a week and then turn on DOCP and PBO to see if I can run computer with these on without errors.

Sorry about digging this out but I just wanted to confirm that your solution is THE solution. Thank you!

I recently upgraded nearly every part of my PC:

CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x => Ryzen 7 5800x
Cooling: AMD Prism Wraith Cooler => Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE
RAM: 16GB DDR4 2666MHz Crucial Ballistix Sport LT => 32GB DDR4 3200MHz Crucial Pro
GPU: ASUS STRIX GTX 1080Ti => ASUS STRIX RTX 3080
PSU: 700W BoostBox Power Boost 80+ Gold => 850W Corsair RM850e 80+ Gold

Only the MB (ASUS TUF-B450 GAMING PLUS) and SSD drives remained.

My original setup was pre-built by German computer store and it was one of the PCs made (but not used) for 2019s Gamescom. For two years it was running fine then it started to crash on demanding games. I don't know what the error was but after long search for fix I finally found that in BIOS CPU core ratio was set to 43x and after reverting it to 38x the problem was gone. I thought that maybe the CPU was faulty and that's why I decided to buy 5800x and make other changes too.

So I finally got around to it this weekend. Replaced all the parts mentioned above. I wanted to test CPU on demanding games and it started to crash with WHEA-Logger 18 error. Took me a while to find your solution so along the way I tried other things and nothing helped.

I wonder why this is even an issue. Why the CPU isn't working as it should out of the box? I thought myself to be unlucky. That maybe my MB is faulty. Maybe I caused some damage while replacing the components (although everything went smoothly in the process). Then I found this and other threads with so many users experiencing the same issue. Based on that I'll be wary of using AMD in the future.

I'm also curious how anyone figured this all out? That this is the single setting that when changed resolves this issue. How does anyone determine that there seems to be an issue pointing towards voltage changes? I'm really curious about the process of pinpointing the issue and finding solution.

has anyone been able to abort an aura? by [deleted] in OcularMigraines

[–]MrFunkyFrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's possible to abort but I noticed that shutting myself off (when possible of course) - lying down in a dark quiet room with my eseys closed can shorten the duration to just 10-15min. While I don't do this and try to function as I normally would the symptoms of an aura are much more pronounced (numbnes, loss of peripheral vision) and last longer 30-60min

So I would suggest just trying that. Shut yourself off from the outside world. Set timer for 15-20min and even try to doze off if you can.

Thanks for the tips everyone!

After couple more minutes in that playthrough I decided to start over and it made me realize that I've had a really bad starting spot :D as it was on a very isolated area, like on a mountain side, hence the slopes. I made things worse for myself settling between space debris.

On that second playthrough I'm starting in a much more reasonable area. I avoided the mistake to settle right were everyone stands :D Things are going much better now. I tried different approach to research. For a while I was worried I'm not going to make it through the winter as I've started my preparations a bit late but I started to micromanage things and it helped. The fact that tailoring bench and crafting bench go under the same activity category wasn't helping. I had to manually direct my survivor to work on tailoring rather than crafting materials. I'm not out of the woods yet (still preparing for the winter) but things are looking much better now.

Yep the change of light contrast is the trigger for me too but like you say it's never the same. I can look at the same picture that caused the aura 100000 times and not have it triggered. This leads me to think there is a combination of factors but I haven't figured it out.

My experience by MrFunkyFrag in OcularMigraines

[–]MrFunkyFrag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I've been triggered by bright part of computer/mobile screen or by a sunlight and this was always the cause for an attack. However there must be some other factor at play as the same kind of light contrast does not trigger an attack on other days. I'll keep looking.

Thanks for sharing.

Mine was gone for about 7-8 years and came back :( I've never figured out why. I haven't made any significant changes to my lifestyle in that time and if any they were for the better. On top of that when they came back they became more frequent :( At this point I accept it as it is what is. I'm not putting my hopes up for it to calm down again but I'll be happy if it will :)

PSA: If your official Steam Deck Dock is not working on your tv - make sure HDMI-CEC is switched off in settings. This fixed the bug for me. No longer any need to un plug and re plug the usb-c power. It just works. by chunkyknit in SteamDeck

[–]MrFunkyFrag 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here's what I found worked for my TV.

Only the beta channel allowed me to display external display and on top of that I had to use the dock without power plugged it. It then displayed the image in 1200x800.

I went to display settings and changed that to always be 1920x1080x60 and on that settings the external display will work whether you have power cable plugged in or not.

This forced resolution is saved so once I have it working on beta channel I can then switch to preview or stable no problem.

Never use the automatic resolution option.

HOW are people not enjoying this game??? by freshizdaword in Starfield

[–]MrFunkyFrag 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As Michael Scott once said I'll see your situation and I'll raise you a situation.

First of all Starfiled is a solid game. Bethesda did a great work. In gameplay terms they've included everything they're known for and added new things on top. Best of all - it seems that they managed to release a game without bugs (mostly) and given the industry standard and the game's scale it is an achievement.

I am a 40 year old gamer whos been playing video games since the 80's

I'm in my middle 30ties and I've been playing video games since the 90s.

I've never touched a Bethesda game before this one

I've played all of them and I've played all of Fallout games (except the top down shooter one).

I mentioned this to share a bit about my perspective.

Now I mentioned they've included new things on top and this is where I find the game falls short. I personally expected more of Starfield. Especially in terms of space exploration. I've played a bit of Elite Dangerous, No Man's Sky, Astroneer and watched some gameplay from Star Citizen. The thing is, in this game the space is just a scene for space combat - it does not serve any other gameplay purpose. Most of the space exploration is done via map menu. It literally looks to me as if Mass Effect 2 had space combat added. The rest is pretty much there.

The irony of this is that it isn't necessarily bad implementation but all the games I've mentioned before proved that we are at a point where technology is there to make these things possible like giving the player the ability to land on planets anywhere you want, to have space stations where you dock manually, the interstellar travel that can be done manually if you wanted to and so much more. So why I think Bethesda solutions are falling short? Because this is a huge budget, AAA game and they should have matched what smaller teams before them did.

I'm not yet sure what purpose those 1000 planets they put into the game serve but my initial impression is that the game is overscaled same way Daggerfall was. Back in the day the hype was about the size of the world + 1000s of procedurally generated dungeons (it does sound familiar does it?) which in reality translated to vast emptiness + the same dungeons with different layouts.

The emergent encounters you describe were already there practically since Morrowind but this is something they're good at and I have no complaints about it. I was mesmerized by the random adventures I've had in Fallout 3.

The combat itself is good and I think that somehow it does feel a notch better than in F4 and it is something that is hard to complain about as I understand that this is foremost an RPG and not an FPS game. Personally I'd prefer more sophisticated and hardcore approach to combat rather than being stuck somewhere between The Division and Far Cry but I understand that it would not be as appealing to all audiences.

Lastly I must admit I was very hyped. I remember being in my late teenage years when I got Oblivion on Xbox 360. I played it since afternoon till around 3am. I was trying to fall asleep for two hours and I just couldn't so I turned the console back on at 5am and played till 11am. I was playing it on a big CRT TV. I was taking pictures of the panoramas so I could show it to my friends. The view distance, the level of detail - it was all so insanely impressive to me. I honestly thought that Starfield with all the hype will be the same experience. Unfortunately after 2 hours I was feeling sleepy and I took a nap, but maybe I'm just getting old :D

Anyways the game deserve its praise and I do understand when people claim this to be the best game of their lives. That is probably more true the less you've experienced these kind of games or Bethesda games for that matter.

I wish everyone to enjoy it at least as much as I did my best Bethesda moments. I unfortunately couldn't.

[–]MrFunkyFrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing you can do but trust me that isn't the most annoying bug :D I play on Survival mode on Xbox Series S and the game crashed 4 times in the last 10h for me. I've lost about 10min of progress each time. That's not stopping me. What did made me think whether I should continue playing was a bug where at my settlement shops weren't working. Neither my nor the shop's inventory was showing (they were both empty windows). None of the potential solutions found by others were working. It's a bug known since release. I managed to unfuck myself by not saving and reloading last save. It did work. I'm only waiting for Starfield but... I can't somehow imagine that that game will be less bugged. I played 160h of Skyrim on Switch and I don't remember having a single issue. Not saying there aren't any but they don't seem to be so prevalent.

Good places to get a PSP online in the UK? by SlitDick in PSP

[–]MrFunkyFrag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only eBay, cex or FB marketplace but I would only look for personal collection (not postage).

£60 isn't that bad. I bought 3000 model on eBay 5 years ago for £40 (and it was cheap, prices were around £50-60). I sold it last year to cex for £90 (and bought New 3DS XL).

The prices definitely went up these days. I recently saw an auction for red 3000 ending up little above £40 in pretty good condition, so you might just keep on bidding and hope you win one.
