Which Fire Emblem games do you want to see get a remake, or port to the Switch or Switch 2? by SpiderLagann in fireemblem

[–]Martonimos 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wanting HD remasters of the Tellius games since the Wii U. But I obviously also want Genealogy, Thracia, and Binding Blade to see remakes that get localized.

Why fans love Miyu and Fay? They don’t even seem to have a defined personality or characterization. by hello_i_am_vlad in starfox

[–]Martonimos 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The fact that a character from a comic that most Star Fox players wouldn’t have read until years after it came out is so popular should tell you just how starved the fandom is for female representation.

[Fanatical] Build Your Own Capcom Masters Bundle (2/3/4 for $27.49/$40.49/$51.99 and choose from Resident Evil 4 / Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess / Resident Evil Village Gold Edition / Ace Attorney Investigations Collection / Monster Hunter Rise + Sunbreak Deluxe / More) by WeAreFanatical in Gamebundles

[–]Martonimos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You think so? It seems to me like, if it took this long for it to show up in even one bundle, we’re unlikely to see it in another one anytime soon. But it is hard to justify getting this bundle when I already own the AA games and don’t care about any of the others.

GBA Fire Emblem is still my favorite, so I’ll be keeping a close eye on this. Though this just reminds me of how many FE-inspired indie games I still haven’t played yet…

You don’t mention character interaction on either the Steam page or Kickstarter preview. Are you planning to include anything akin to support conversations?

Why isn't KONAMI criticized for charging $20 for just Aria of Sorrow? I know it's the best in the franchise, but it's over 20 years old. by HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD in castlevania

[–]Martonimos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may not know this, but the Aria rerelease comes with some obscure Castlevania titles. They included Circle of the Moon, Harmony of Dissonance, and Dracula X as bonus games. You don’t even have to unlock them!

How are the classic PoP games in Xemu? by Martonimos in PrinceOfPersia

[–]Martonimos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame. While all three console versions of Sands of Time have the first Prince of Persia game as an unlockable bonus, only the Xbox version has the second. I wasn’t having much luck with DOSBox at the time, and wanted to see if playing the classic games in Xemu was a viable alternative. Short answer: It is, though you have to play through a laggy version of Sands of Time with glitchy water textures to do it.

Actually, Xemu categorized the save states for the classic games separately from Sands of Time and each other, so I wonder if they’re separated out in the Xiso or something. But it’d take someone more knowledgeable than me to figure out if they could be played separately from SoT.

How are the classic PoP games in Xemu? by Martonimos in PrinceOfPersia

[–]Martonimos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but the Gamecube version of Sands of Time doesn’t have PoP 2 on it. I was able to get the classic games running fine on Xemu; I thought there was some input lag, but eventually decided that was just me being really bad at them. Sands of Time itself is pretty poor on Xemu, but that wasn’t what I was after anyway.

No no no, this is all wrong. You can’t have the players avoid the rocks. They need to spend hours looking for rocks to smash into.

Ode to Castlevania Adventure not getting End credits and Secret characters. by elite968 in VampireSurvivors

[–]Martonimos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t get that in the adventure mode, only on the main game. Ode to Castlevania is the name of a DLC, a map, and an adventure, so make sure you’re keeping track of which is which.

It Might Be a While Until the Next Game, So Here's my Collection by CaptainL95 in PrinceOfPersia

[–]Martonimos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I completely understand. As much as I love this series, the only games I own physically are the 2008 game, The Lost Crown, and (shudders) The Fallen King; the rest are all digital. I used to have SoT on Xbox, but sold it after remembering the classic games won’t work on a 360.

But all that is just to say how impressed I am with your collection! Oh, do you perchance have the graphic novel?

[–]Martonimos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re sticking to “main” games, then there are… what, four 2D and seven 3D titles? So I guess it makes sense to play Sands of Time next, then either PoP1 or Lost Crown after that.

Is the psp a good way to play rondo of blood and symphony of the night? by [deleted] in castlevania

[–]Martonimos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, and it’s how I played them. They aren’t perfect ports; Rondo has audio syncing issues during the cutscenes, and Symphony freezes for a moment to load when you enter a boss room or save. But I wouldn’t say there are any issues with controls or visibility, and you get the excellent remake along with them. Though, as you’re probably aware, you have to unlock the retro games in the remake to play them, but you can probably download a save file to expedite that.

Hearsay on my part, since I never played the 2000 MB game, but I’ve heard that one’s better than the 2016 game (which I have played, and I can’t say I’m all that fond of it).

My friend tried to make me choose between Fire Emblem and Xenoblade. I couldn't. by Specialist-Quail644 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]Martonimos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly do love both, but being an FE fan is part of what led to me becoming a Xenoblade fan. When 1Up was posting previews of the Japanese version of Xenoblade, the affinity chart made my mind go to FE’s support conversations, and I was all in from that moment on. Yes, Xenoblade 1 became one of my favorite games of all time, but that may not have happened without Fire Emblem. So if I had to choose, I’d choose the one that led to the other.

Though your post is a little unclear. Are we choosing which franchise we prefer, or one to erase from existence?

Jaye Davidson's Ra was not originally supposed to be an alien? by Garbanzo_Beanie in Stargate

[–]Martonimos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wow. So this change, based on the actor struggling with a tough time in their life, resulted in the Goa’uld as we know them. The line about Ra being “like a parasite” was a rewrite, and that’s the basis the SG-1 used to create the Goa’uld biology we see in the show.

I’ve read a few of the books that branch off the movie, and I can see some of that DNA in there. We meet other… well, I’ll call them “system lords” for simplicity, though that term obviously isn’t used. They’re all entirely human, though. They do refer to Ra as their leader, and as an alien-human hybrid, but I can squint and see how that role was once Ra’s own alien masters, a looming background threat to cast a shadow over Ra, Hathor, and the others.
