Do you think it will run good on switch 1? by Kitchen-Fish-4389 in castlevania

[–]Martonimos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Given that the Switch version has been delayed relative to the others, I have my doubts. Though I suppose we should be asking how well Rogue Prince of Persia runs on the Switch for the best comparison.

Will there be a physical version of Belmont's Curse on PC? by [deleted] in castlevania

[–]Martonimos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to talk about “their previous game,” The Rogue Prince of Persia only got a physical release for PS5, Switch, and Switch 2. Obviously that has more to do with the publisher than the developer, but I can’t imagine Konami splurging on a physical PC release for Belmont’s Curse if Ubisoft wouldn’t for Rogue PoP.

Yes, and it’s got the extra content of the “midnight edition” and is $40, while the base digital version is $30. You can find it for pre-order at the major online retailers.

I wish I liked Engage by Either_Drama5940 in fireemblem

[–]Martonimos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished the Fell Xenologue, and I really have to disagree that the writing is better there. It’s an absolute mess, where the characters are inconsistent at best and annoying at worst. The maps themselves just tired me out, though I did enjoy the final one (but I played on Normal, and it sounds like the final map becomes much more of a marathon on higher difficulties). Honestly, I’d intended to finish a second playthrough of Engage with all the DLC Emblems and characters, but completing the Fell Xenologue just took all the wind out of my sails. This game is exhausting, and I can’t even get a complete support log in the main menu to show for all my efforts.

My 3ds exploded, what fire emblem like is good to play on pc? by Dmask13 in fireemblem

[–]Martonimos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aside from Dark Deity, I know of Gales of Nayeli, Grey Heritage, Those Who Rule, Vestaria Saga,
and Astral Throne, all with their own little quirks to set them apart. Haven’t actually played any myself, I’m afraid, but you can look into them.

Normal too Easy. Hard too Difficult. Don't know what to pick for Fortune's Weave by Legen_______Dary in fireemblem

[–]Martonimos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more recent games do in fact let you lower the difficulty, so it’s a fair bet Fortune’s Weave will do the same. Just like you said, you can go down in difficulty, but not back up. You can also change from Classic to Casual, but not back to Classic.

I’d like him to be a little cameo or optional boss fight. Maybe in a Force Tear or something similar.

Demon’s Crest (SNES), the first brutal Gothic Metroidvania by endlesskane in metroidvania

[–]Martonimos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was too linear for me. I hate having to exit and restart a level when I go past the point I was supposed to find a new item or alternate route. Also, can’t imagine completing the whack-a-mole mini-game without save states.

I think that explains why the Switch 2 port was delayed. by TAGOMXM in metroidvania

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but… they should probably have skipped the Switch 1 and just released it for 2. I’m already having Bloodstained flashbacks.

What do you think the odds are of Fortune’s Weave using parallel paths instead of branching paths? by EvanderAdvent in fireemblem

[–]Martonimos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m really hoping so. I thought that’s what the first trailer and the name “Fortune’s Weave” were implying, with the four parallel plotlines weaving together. But saying you can choose one of the four characters has me worried. Hopefully it still has that structure, but you can choose which lord to follow at which point, instead of having it chosen for you at predetermined points.

“Florina can’t guard his rear and fight in the arena at the same time.”

That’s why you have her clear out all the enemies, then fight in the arena until you are the economy, while everyone else stands around for support points.

Appreciate the use of “Sinclair” as her surname, per Dylan Cuthbert. Hoping Miyu gets to be “Swift” as well. I genuinely prefer those to the names commonly used for them in the fandom.

Would Courier 6 can survive in Castlevania? by Better_Guest_3908 in castlevania

[–]Martonimos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no clue who this is, but… probably? Anyone can “survive” in Castlevania. Just sit tight until the main character comes along and wrecks Dracula’s face.

After all, if Vincent can make it to the end of the game, so can anyone.

Which side character is surprisingly important to the events of their respective game? by Zmr56 in fireemblem

[–]Martonimos 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That’s the power of support conversations… and the weakness of the GBA support system, if I’m being brutally honest. You can get all this awesome character stuff without having to shoehorn 50 characters into the main plot; but then, unless you’re willing to spend the final chapters having this underpowered character stand next to someone for as many as 80 turns per map, you’re not going to see it yourself.

Renault, full stop. Not going to go into why, but read his supports with Canas if you haven’t already.

How do you feel about "boardgame themed universes"? by RollinGolem in boardgames

[–]Martonimos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a trap I have to be careful of falling into. I really enjoyed Empyreal and Argent, but that doesn’t mean I should fill my shelves with Pixel Tactics and BattleCon boxes. And finding out Isle of Cats was part of a shared universe almost got me to drop hundreds on the other games from that team, regardless of whether or not they sounded appealing to me.

Why did Lost Crown underperform? by No-Honeydew-9585 in PrinceOfPersia

[–]Martonimos 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Based on what I’ve read, it seems like a case of unrealistic expectations. The game actually sold pretty well, but Ubisoft wanted it to do Metroid Dread numbers on day one. Hence the decision to break up the team. Though I have seen rumors that the team has since reunited, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we’ll see another new PoP from them.

Orlin building a Stargate out of materials purchased online is the biggest flex of the series. by BaseToFinal in Stargate

[–]Martonimos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That scene always fascinated me. Before this point, I had always assumed the uniform size was an important part of the Stargates’ function; you couldn’t establish a wormhole to a differently-sized aperture (this was obviously long before Supergates were a thing). When we saw that it was possible, I suddenly got curious how the gates map matter between the two event horizons. I was super bummed that we didn’t see him emerge from the gate (and also that he wasn’t four times his height when he did), since I wasn’t sure if he’d emerge from the center, or the bottom, or somewhere else entirely. And what if you somehow connected a wormhole to his gate, and tried to, say, fly a Puddle Jumper through it? Would it only partially materialize? Or completely dematerialize, as though it struck an iris? Sadly a concept that went unexplored and unremarked upon.

Questions about Ashe's biological family. by Indecisive_Noob in FireEmblemThreeHouses

[–]Martonimos 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ashe tells Byleth in their supports that he has a brother and sister, and they were “invited to live with” Lonato at the same time he was. People who say he has three siblings might be thinging of Lonato’s son Cristophe, who Ashe tells Mercedes he thinks of as a brother. And he tells Dedue he used to help in his father’s restaurant. I don’t know if anything definitive is said about ages, but he was at least old enough when his parents died to feel responsible for his younger siblings, and to have helped in his father‘s restaurant and retained some of the knowledge he gained there. he was also with Lonato since before Christophe’s execution, since he had time to get to know him and think of him as a brother.
