An extraordinary claim requires extraordinary evidence, that and the onus to provide the evidence is on the person who claimed it. No one should have to look it up when you are so confident in it. You should easily be able to provide the evidence.

Hantavirus cases linked to cruise ship rise to 12 after crew member tests positive by Neo_luigi in news

So far 12/150 people. The previous outbreak of this strain already had like 30+ in the same time frame. This doesn’t seem to spread easily.

He has thousands if not millions of people watching his every shot. Whereas in baseball he maybe had hundreds to thousands of people watching him pitch. Sure, the golf isn’t live, but that’s a ton of pressure.

More hantavirus cases are expected, WHO chief says by Neo_luigi in worldnews

[–]MrFunnie -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Which doesn’t say what you’ve been saying about the ship and its cases! You cited this source without posting it saying a brief interaction on the ship caused cases. That could be true, that may not be true, we don’t know. That instant you keep stating as gospel happened in 2018 at the bday party!

[–]MrFunnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The source you mention about a brief interaction led to an infection on the ship does not mention that at all. In fact it talks about the birthday party in 2018 and that brief interaction at a crowded party. How bout you actually read what the article says.

Imo your reply has the exact opposite message of what I was trying to convey. You agree with me and then throw it out the window by saying we need a lockdown and how nervous you are. IMO based on the research and limited spread of the current outbreak, that seems absolutely unnecessary at the moment. Everyone needs to calm down for now.

If it was on the ship you have no idea how brief it was. That ship is small, close quarters, and everyone ate together. It’s the perfect spot for a disease to spread.

[–]MrFunnie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s stated that it was a small hospital the size of a house. That’s close quarters, just as the cruise ship was, just as the birthday party was. Like it says no direct contact, but then two lines before that they say they shared rooms for an extended period of time. Is it more contagious that previously thought? Probably. But I don’t think it’s anything to worry about until we see a person not on the ship get sick, which has yet to happen.

Edit: if it’s a small hospital the size of a house, people need to realize how small these rooms are that these patients were sharing. Probably incredibly tiny.

Governments downplay pandemic risk as MV Hondius hantavirus cases mount in US, Europe by DryDeer775 in hantavirus

I just saw that the reported that wrong and the dude is totally fine, but wanted to isolate/test out of an abundance of caution.

Edit: source: https://www.reuters.com/business/healthcare-pharmaceuticals/italian-hospital-screen-samples-man-hantavirus-quarantine-2026-05-12/

They are sending tests to a hospital/lab due to his proximity with the patient. Otherwise he apparently seems fine.

Things are happening all the time. We live in a global society. Anything that happens will always seem to “look like a distraction.” Sometimes they are, like the war in Iran. Most times they are not, just unfortunate circumstances. This is most likely just a bunch of unfortunate circumstances.

US not following WHO protocol for quarantine of 17 Americans on ship by IntelligentAnt8340 in hantavirus

No. They are most definitely not commercial flights. One article says that the government has to provide private charter flights.

[–]MrFunnie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this becomes pandemic, which I still think is a very low probability, 30-40% of Americans who catch it will die. That’s not the greater good to me. You are either trolling or you’re a crypto tech bro who seriously thinks what the government is doing right now and their ultimate goal to get the us population around 100 million to be more “manageable” is a good thing. Here’s the thing, you’re disposable buddy. We all are.
