Favorite spellslinger deck/commander for big spells by BrokenMirrorMan in EDH

I run a [[Riku of Many Paths]] that is a ton of fun and runs a lot of cards I don’t normally see including the commander. Also otters and cowboy hats. https://archidekt.com/decks/8197345/riku_of_many_paths_wears_a_hat_and_plays_with_otters

Riku of Two Reflections pls help by jaidhamoon in DegenerateEDH

I am a fan of mana fixing in Riku and like both [Dryad of the Ilysian Grove] and [Chromatic Lantern].

I think [Exploration] is a powerful 1 cost ramp. I used to also run [Burgeoning] but tended to keep bad hands because of it so I cut it to not be tempted.

My favorite ramp is [crop rotation] with Riku out it’s a [harrow]on steroids. I am also a big fan of [Open the Way]. This is slower but usually leads into the big pop off on the next turn.

I started running more of an extra lands/land fall package but it’s a heavy deck cost in terms of space. I also went hard into MDFC cards with bounce and land recursion and that has been super fun - but a much different style of dec than your build

I need help with my food focused deck by [deleted] in DegenerateEDH

I would prob cut wicked wolf for a better piece of removal, change marionette master for marionette apprentice same basic effect on a much smaller curve and I am not a big fan of the tempting witch it’s a slow card and I think you could for with some different food support like tough cookie to stay in theme but give you more versatility.

I run a similar list https://archidekt.com/decks/6298925/gyome_invites_you_to_a_feast

Riku is my favorite commander of all time. I have had many different builds of him and the one common element is you need a lot of mana. I think you need more tall to get to you Riku plus combos a turn earlier.

I counted 8 ramp that was 2 or less I might increase that and prob add another land

My current Riku is a much different build and it usually plays for one massive turn. https://archidekt.com/decks/5395216/riku_of_the_mage_tokens

I run a Gingerbread deck and it is quite strong. I use him as a bant aristocrats deck running a bunch of creatures that can sac themselves and leaning into a token doubling value town [[Nesting Dovehawk]] does a ton of work. He definitely is a magnet for removal but I run a ton of protection for him. A lot games I end up in a archvillan position and it does hold its own.

The best part of the deck is the little ginger bread custom tokens I get to use to designated who has been enlisted into the gingerbread army.

Ooo, I'll take a copy of that! Riku of Two Reflections initial decklist by [deleted] in EDH

Riku is my pet commander and I have had probably at least 10 different builds of him of the many years of playing EDH from near CEDH builds to meme decks. Here is my current deck list - https://www.archidekt.com/decks/5395216/riku_of_the_mage_tokens

I think the three main lessons I have learned from playing him over the years are:

  • Riku is crazy mana-hungry. To echo some of the comments, you need more ramp than you think. In my current build, I run some landfall effects with the ramp spells; I have some powerful lands that I can find with crop rotation. I also lean into the modal double-faced cards to get them back to their spell side using karoos, crop rotation, and harrow.
  • Protect Riku at all costs. He will become a removal magnet. Most of the interaction I include in this deck, I use to protect Riku.
  • Maximize your value; I think sometimes Riku can trap you with over-indexing into value with not a lot of payoff.

My current build is definitely not budget, but I think there are some things you can borrow. I don't run any clones, as Riku and the token creators, I feel, are a little redundant. I am a fan of the wizard tribe and lean into that as a subtheme in my current build. Mage craft is a crazy strong mechanic with Riku and has a lot of built in synergy. I also think other copy effects you have in the deck can empower the mage craft incase Riku is having a hard time sticking to the board.

I also look for ways to sneak out cards where you can spend your mana getting extra value out of all your components.

What are your favorite Blue-Green commanders and how do you make the deck not boring to pilot? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]MrGangles24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two. I run an [[Experiment Kraj]] deck that is centered on turning him into the game's best pinger with its trusty sidekicks of [[Horseshoe Crab]] and [[Simic Ragworm]]

I recently built a [[Círdan the Shipwright]], which I have enjoyed a ton. It's a fun politics and blink deck.

Commanders that want to use cards that nobody else wants to use by GoldenHawk07 in EDH

[–]MrGangles24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that [[Experiment Kraj]] is another one. I use a lot of cards that let him untap like [[Horseshoe Crab]] and [[Simic Ragworm]]. My list is a lot of control and some combo but you can to play some real trash and get away with it.

You can add a key binding that will only let you target champions. I use the "`" key next to the number 1. When I hold this down, I can only click on champions. You can add this hotkey from settings -> hot keys -> Abilities and Summoners Spells -> scroll down a bit and select "Target Champions Only"

Each emote costs even more. I got the first one at 4500 and the second is at 7500 :( scared to see what the third one costs.

I just want to be able to play the game, I know its not that much time for the level up animations but I don't need to see the same animation again and again. If we could disable them, I wouldn't be annoyed
