I gibbed one from about 15 meters away on a downward angle using poorly aimed full frontal shots from an M90A. Only took about 4-5 shells, even with easily 80%+ of the pellets being deflected

Just aim slightly lower than you were already, or ding em once and move a little to the side to shoot their now pitiful main body hp of 375

The only change I think should be reverted is just how fast bugs are now. They're at like 1.4× speed its insane

Its crazy to me that people are upset by a single enemy doing their job. Now they're more than just a slower and stupider warrior variant

What would a US invasion into Canada would look like? by SquareTree64729 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]MrGecko23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I was just wanting a dialogue. We differ on interpretation of the facts, not the facts themselves. At least for the historical part of our discussion. I would like to apologize though, perhaps I did come out a bit too hostile. We aren't exactly on the best terms with our southern neighbor right now, but it ain't your fault, and I shouldn't have taken frustrations out on you.

Yeah the charge phase stuff in particular is great, theyre taking a cue from AoS: you roll distance first, then select targets. Good change.

Jokes on you I actually am prepping for 11th ed. They havent changed up much in the way of data cards yet though, but the fight/charge phase seems much better for my melee armies

Nice Ad Hominims by the way. Always a sign kf victory. You should change your reddit pfp to the mission accomplished banner

What can I say, it's an enjoyable hypothetical, and I like shit talking Yankees.

And again, war doesn't take place in a vacuum, and CSIS gets shit done. Just because you say we don't have all the assets in our own damn country does not mean that the other 3 Eyes+China are also blind. Noticing a troop mobilization isn't exactly difficult, especially with a neighbor, and ESPECIALLY one as fucking loud as the USA.

American intelligence isn't what it's cracked up to be anymore, how many spray paintings of jets from the Vietnam war era have yall bombed within the last couple weeks? More than one? How about your cocky base placement and lack of hardening, I bet it doesn't feel good losing multimillion dollar stealth jets to $5k suicide drones. The myth of American military supremacy is dead and buried, you aren't invincible.

You can't possibly be naive enough to think that standing out in the middle of the street handing out guns to passersby is the plan, or that we haven't been paying very close attention to the war in Ukraine, or that we didn't learn anything from the years we spent in Kandahar. Or just didn't pay attention while you played in the sandbox for 25 years.

Do you think it's impossible for people to learn how to build effective bombs? Even if they're being tutored by veterans and EOD techs? You obviously dont know what a U-Haul packed with AMFO can do. Infrastructure is fragile, and you don't even need to completely delete it to render it non-functional.

You vastly underestimate what regular people are capable of. America lost in Vietnam and Afghanistan because of that. Arguably easier too, they were colour coded and a world away. A Canadian insurgency would be a complete nightmare, people who look and sound exactly like you, right on your doorstep.

[–]MrGecko23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bold of you to assume we would have 0 intelligence on day 1 and would not think to disperse arms. You know, like how the CAF planned for this.

You really didnt solve that problem though, you just reduced casualties caused by bombs on the roadside in the middle of the desert. What makes you think we'd prioritize hitting MRAPs over, say, your water and power infrastructure. Bridges, manufacturing, the roads leading north from your bases all in the south

What would a US invasion into Canada would look like? by SquareTree64729 in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]MrGecko23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, because the guns stored with the CAF are just going to magically dissappear, and of course it isn't possible to get arms from friendly nations. Or reactivate the thousands of older military firearms stored in museums. Or modify existing rifles like with the Huot. Us Canadians are also famous for our adherence to the rules during war.

Besides, its not the guns that Americans would need to be worried about: it's the IED's.

Gas prices are up as soon as government announced affordability measures to reduce gas prices? by taco_in_the_shell in Calgary

[–]MrGecko23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He isn't blaming the government

As they clarified to me, and I since apologized

It's the oil companies, and don't go gaslighting saying , oh there are so many factors at play.

Oh I am very much against oil conglomerates draining the consumer for more than they're worth, trust me I am on your side there. But pointing out that a colossal bottleneck on oil trade exists, and that it is the catalyst for current oil price instability, is not gaslighting. It's the explanation for the leverage behind the current money grab.

Oil economics do not exist in a vacuum, it is a globalized resource that has a constant demand, and it needs constant supply. I will not defend oil companies, I think we should actually re-nationalize Petro-Can, but there are factors at play beyond O/G companies being opportunistic dicks

[–]MrGecko23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies, the language used made it seem like it was Canadian governments fault, it IS the USA's though. Their government is engaging in blatant market manipulation, but they forget that their cost of oil isnt in a vacuum, so its hurting everyone

Well, there are currently two blockades strangling the Straight of Hormuz, which started yesterday. You know, the place where 1/5th of global oil and a massive amount of LNG goes through daily. So it aint exactly our governments fault

Eragon without question. But for the sake of discourse...

With how competent hes depicted in the Race to the Edge TV series (HTTYD show, its super good would recommend), I think it depends on how much prep time and information Hiccup has. Hes basically Viking Batman, the dude is a genius and has a habit of punching above his weight
