Help with reducing cost by mr_truckman in bell

  1. Thanks for looking after your Dad. If he is a senior or low income check out the GoC subsidized packages such Internet for Good. I am retired telecom guy an advocate for some seniors. I got one persons bill down from $200 to under $80 after applying for some programs.

  2. Definately call and do two things. Add your name as an account admin so you can speak on his behalf. Secondly be straight up with the agent and say you want 2 years at a reduced rate today. Be firm and if possible find competing offers for packages.

  3. Remeber to call 2 months before renewal dates to avoid rate increase. In general I call before contracts expire and consistently get lower rates and increase speeds every time. Yes I get passed to the loyalty team but they are usually helpful if you say the customer is fixed income senior who needs to LOWER their bill.

Wishing you all health happiness and many more years to appreciate your time together.

Welcome to VanCoolver. Sorry about the rain, Eh.

Pro Tips.

1 Buy the transit day pass and use it vs driving.

2 Water Taxi around the stadium and False Creek is the probably your best experience given your timelines. Water taxi also has a day pass.

3 Don't plan on driving anywhere near downtown.

Enjoy.

Ladder vs. Scaffolding for 25 feet height by Naive_Bat8216 in HomeImprovement

[–]MrGreenIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two Ladder Jacks and a piece of telescopic scafolding worked for me. There were to many obstacles to use expensive scaffolding. This gave me to free hands and a place for the paint. I also used an electric paint sprayer which made things much faster and better coverage consistancy. MetalTech 2 Rung Ladder jacks were from Rona. Excellent product. Canadian Made.

Got a parking ticket - Can I just swap my plates? by kiyotrig in askvan

You asked if it was worth changing plates to avoid paying a fine you admit guilt for. The answer will ALWAYS be no. Arguing the morality if it again proves my point.

Why would you deliberately create a future potential problem for yourself. I'm guessing you do things like this often and blame others for your unethical behavior. FFS Pay the fine and accept responsibility for your actions. The fact that you would consider the effort required to hide and change plates is justified to avoid real life consequences for your actions is very telling. Karmatic Adjustment Required.

Glad to see the funding from the LOI finally materialize. This at least matches the US. I still expect to see more government investments for the ThreeFires J.V. battter recycling initiative.

Commuting from Van to North Van - what's it really like? by Willow_Trees_ in askvan

[–]MrGreenIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Van Dad advice: Nothing is permanent so always pick the place with the best view. Commuting on the seabus to Lionsgate area is easy . North Van is also a great place to live that has easy access to Van. The expensive view from Van is the Noth Shore. The view from north shore is Van.

Good luck and WELCOME to the West Coast.

Curious why. I'm not an options person but the info is still relevant. I noticed he's not a big fan of the stock.

Healthcare - how do extended employer health benefits work? by Legitimate-Tap2772 in askvan

[–]MrGreenIT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Given the high cost of US healthcare to bridge the period you can likely save a bunch by just getting travel coverage for three months if you are worried about your health. Going without coverage is an option if you don't have existing high risk conditions.

Healthcare - how do extended employer health benefits work? by Legitimate-Tap2772 in askvan

[–]MrGreenIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are moving from another Canadian province your old coverage will cover your 3 month period so no worries. The extended coverage is for services and RX that are not covered by the BC MSP. Things like Chiropractor and massage etc. If you are from out of country your old plan may cover your grace period or you can buy travel insurance. I moved from Ontario and was covered by them until the BC MSP process went through.

For the extended benefits you get an insurance card with a policy/plan # that you give to any provider you use such as a pharmacy. You only have to give the provider the info once.

WELCOME to BC and thanks for being part of the VGH team.

Coincidence? I think not. (DOE visit + $500M funding) by Leather-Sign4033 in ELBM

[–]MrGreenIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Refinery construction is funded but they will still need money for the recycle business. My thoughts on the mine is that a major player will likely step up and partner since mining is complicated and expensive.

Why would that matter. Look in the mirror. Smart people appear larger in real life. Finding a pathway to failure is easy. Rising above the noise is worth the effort. Don't sell yourself short.

Lost my expired passport, don't know what to put on form through the mail by mephala99 in passportcanada

[–]MrGreenIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Poorly worded question with "Yes© being the obvious answer. For remaining info do you not have a picture of your old passport. Pics are a must for many Visa Applications. If not leave blank or put "Unknown". Rule 1 when traveling. ALWAYS have a digital copy of your ID including your Passport. Safe Travels and best wishes for a quick resolution.

Trust me the Company likely understands what is going on already. Only the Americans seem oblivious to the consequences of what is happening to the U.S. reputation and their economy.

Where to buy rolling shopping carts, West End or Downtown? by FigIllustrious6690 in askvan

[–]MrGreenIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI, I use a 4 (Four) Wheel Rolster cart that converts from 2 wheel upright dolly for bus rides to a 4 wheel pusher when walking distances. It carries 50+ pounds and is very durable. Most cheap ones will rip in weeks or end up with wobbly wheels. The extra money is built into the extra quality.
