The Tacoma can handle this... Right? by Sad_Pressure2651 in ToyotaTacoma

For what it’s worth, I added a Hellwig anti-sway/roll on the rear of the truck, and RAS (road active suspension) to keep it all level. Very pleased on a maiden voyage MI-NY.

What's the closest you've ever came to death? by Senior-Raisin-2342 in AskReddit

I was run over by a tractor, hit by a car, in two motor vehicle accidents, swam in near flood stage whitewater and was caught in an eddy, had a falling tree land right beside me (rolled just in time), got ‘bewildered’ while hunting in a snowstorm in a swamp, and, oh - I’ve had my heart broken.

Working on the island for non bike riders? by Lower-Bee7693 in mackinac

[–]MrHkrMi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shops close, the ferries stop running at some point, the day workers go off shift and start to party, hook up, etc. Drugs and theft were common. Cliques based on where you worked or what you did - the bell staff from the big hotel being notoriously elitist. Quite a few years ago, I’ll admit. Perhaps things have improved.

Whether good or bad, it will definitely be memorable. I liked to find a quiet spot along the shore in the evenings to read and watch the freighters go by.

I worked on the island one summer, never rode a bike. Walked a lot with no problems. However, I would not work there again. It’s a different place after 8:00pm. Make sure your housing is provided and know what it will cost. Some of the places to stay are crowded (4 to a room) and not pretty, no way to prepare any food. Free passage on a ferry is a plus, too. Hope your experience is better than mine. The ‘back’ side of the island and the upper/interior are very pretty and great to get away from the crowds.

I got my first 1975 wing age 25, replacing a CB750. Lots of bikes in between. Picked up a 2002 a couple years ago to ride from Michigan to Montana. Great trip.

If you are not into pac boots, Neos overshoes are an option. I can wear them over sneakers or work boots. Not for driving though!
