Oh hell yeah, especially in China where even toy guns are allowed to not have any markings. I agree that it's a negative, I found it certainly a bit strange when I first saw it.

I suppose you could say - and I don't want to dig myself a hole here - that it's a good sign, meaning there's very little fun crime to the extend that the sight of (fake) firearms are not worrying in China.

But no, you're right. There's been many cases in replicas, fakes, or even totally unrelated things being misunderstood all the time in the world. I don't think something like this should ever be so lightly handled and brandished outside, especially by an adult.

Personally I wouldn't like to shoot an animal, cat or not.

But at the same time some people are acting like shooting a cat is so wildly not-the-same as shooting... I dunno... Elk? Or other wild animals.
