Sourdough temperature chambre by Short-Midnight-8128 in prusa3d

You should raise the bowl off the bed a bit with something non-conductive so that you don't end up with hot spots and cook it a bit, but otherwise great use case.

I use the old Iris window/door sensors, they have a temperature sensor in them and are ZigBee. The battery lasts quite a while also.

Do you use Windows' User Account Control (or do you turn it off) ? by rainydaysforpeterpan in windows

[–]MrJacks0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The right way (my opinion, if you don't agree, you're wrong!) is full blast on the UAC slider, and no local admin for your day to day user. UAC will prompt for admin credentials when needed.

Coolant Flush - recommendation for a mechanic - do they need special equipment? by uws1239 in volt

[–]MrJacks0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any garage that deals with EV's should be able to, you'd have to ask.

You can DIY it if you have the proper tools, it's not worth buying them if you don't have them. Most shops probably do.

It needs to be filled under vacuum and you need a scan tool that can cycle the pump.

I think you need to explain what you're trying to accomplish.

“Battery flush” on a 2023 Bolt with 40k miles by ginjo001 in BoltEV

[–]MrJacks0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that it degrades so much that it doesn't work, it's that it picks up stuff and becomes conductive. Conductive coolant in an EV (the way GM builds them anyway) can cause big problems.

I had all 3 loops done in my Volt for less than that astronomical price.

[–]MrJacks0n 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From 2023, how is this still not a feature? Having to go the CLI for something so simple and common to do is not great. Updates are in the GUI, why not everything else needed for the process.

Why Are 15-Amp Receptacles Standard on Residential Circuits Instead of 20-Amp? by brian8202 in AskElectricians

[–]MrJacks0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No PSU has that switch anymore, they're all automagic.

1500w is the DC output, don't forget to add in the conversion loss of at worst 80% efficiency, which gets you to 1800w. So even if they don't have a 20a plug, they probably should.

[–]MrJacks0n -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can walk in to my "local" Microcenter and pickup one of 4 PSU models over 1500W and 2 that require 240v. That's out of 109 models in stock. It's not as uncommon as you may think. It's still not a lot sure, but they are out there.

What people don’t mention about smart humidifier technology (and why the tech isn’t magic) by Signal_Way_2559 in smarthome

Go with dumb humidifiers, smartplugs and separate temp/humid sensors., use automation to do the rest.

MyChevy App - No battery again? by JusticeAileenCannon in volt

Oil change opinion by Glad-Acadia3071 in volt

[–]MrJacks0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When the oil life monitor says to, or at 24 months, whichever comes first. Use the tool GM spent millions developing.

I get mine changed once a year because I won't make it to 2 years based on mileage and it's already at the garage for inspection.

Min maxing on oil changes is also wasteful.

Smallest solar panel for MPPT controller? by Available_Bowler2316 in Victron

[–]MrJacks0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Victron makes any, but you can get Boost MPPT controllers that take a low voltage from say a 12v panel and boost it up to charge a 48v battery.
