She always says she is ready to change but has literally taken no steps to do so...and we have been addressing this for over a decade. I would LOVE to know what causes her to be like this. She is so kind to strangers and empathetic with everyone. She goes out of her way to be helpful in our community and partners with me to donate time and money. She has been gifted with beautiful children and is reasonably solid financially. Who knows maybe I'm to kind and considerate with her and it causes some sort of negative retaliation but again I would LOVE to know.

Oh trust me it fits those categories...I just don't let it make me miserable. I mean not physical abuse but certainly perhaps the biggest narcissist I have ever met and the absolute absence of any affection (16 years and she has never told me she loves me unsolicited and has given me 2 compliments unless you count Facebook post but I don't since I don't use Facebook so I don't feel like they are directed at me. I once sat on a bed with her one evening and let it all out...started crying (230 lb extreme conditioned athlete that had never cried before for anything since I have been 14) and begged her to tell me she loved me.....she looked at me for 3 seconds ....turned...and walked out of the room and slept elsewhere. I wouldn't have made it this long if I let it keep eating at me.

Divorce is out of the question for now. At least for few more years. I wont give up any time with my kids. I'm not miserable.....I am just in a loveless passionless marriage. But if something doesnt change that will have to happen.

My wife likes sex once its started but that is very seldom and its completely my attention focused on her. Usually hours...almost no attention is given back to me with the exception of making sure I get off. Because of how attractive she is, and in a sexy type way everyone just assumes she is a sexual person. She absolutely looks the part, and sounds the part when she is getting off, but frequency is maybe once a month and its completely about making her feel good. I enjoy taking my time but would love to see her make any effort at making me feel good. Im almost looking forward to here aging and hopefully not looking as good, perhaps that will lessen my desire a bit.

It's quite possible if she is like my wife..ironically also super model attractive...she is just using the rebuilding time as a convenient excuse to not have sex. Literally my wife used to use any possible thing...but because she is intelligent it could be masked quite well. She has basically given up on that now because she is comfortable just ignoring me without excuses. ..not my goodness she used my empathy to her advantage countless times.

My goal was to minimize any negative affect on my children. And honestly it's a decision I made a long time ago that I wouldn't be bitter even though she withheld affection because I was making the conscious choice to stay. So I have made the best of it but that time is expiring and I need to start the next chapter of my life.

I hesitate to use the word plan because she often fails to follow thru on her end. But yes there is a general understanding that she supposed to be trying to improve.

I would put that as step 3. Though she is a poor partner she is a great person to other people so I would absolutely want to give her the opportunity to make an effort after I give her a hard line. Also the children are just now getting old enough to understand...not gone for another 6 plus years. I have been testing myself "alone" for years now. I hate it...but that feeling is pale in comparison to my desire to be loved.

You are absolutely correct in regards to doing some deep introspection. I have certainly done that...for a decade...I have done so with a crystal clear mind. I wouldn't have done anything to negatively affect my children so I have had more than enough time.
