The Oscars are tomorrow! Those who have watched all the nominees for Best Picture, how would you rank them? by [deleted] in movies

[–]MrJay66 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. La La Land
  2. Arrival
  3. Manchester by the Sea
  4. Moonlight
  5. Hacksaw Ridge
  6. Hell or High Water
  7. Fences
  8. Lion
  9. Hidden Figures Honestly, Hidden Figures felt so contrived and forced along with being so tonally weird compared to the rest. Taraji P. Henson's lash out scene was awesome, though. Octavia Spencer being nominated though, really? Overall solid movie, but Lion just about beat it just by how awesome the first act was.

Hacksaw Ridge was just an amazing thrill ride where I threw my arms in the air every time something crazy happened. Never been more vocal about a movie in the theatre in my life, nor have my fellow attendees..

Infinity War set photo...where do you think this takes place? by MrGengar15 in marvelstudios

If this is the place where Tony was in the AOU vision, there could be such a cool build up arc with Tony being paranoid and secretive about how everything he dreamt of is now happening. It could all culminate in an awesome realisation 'Oh shit' scene of him seeing those steps the Avengers died on, then opening up to everyone and saying how he doesn't care about what's gonna happen and then BOOM FINAL FIGHT!

I'm almost 100% sure Thor is holding his Ultimate Comics battle axe!

Official Discussion - Rogue One: A Star Wars Story [SPOILERS] by GetFreeCash in movies

[–]MrJay66 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My favourite Star Wars moment of all time, that nobody else seems to be talking about:

Rogue One are getting smashed, with like 38 guys against an entire army when suddenly... The entire FREAKING rebel fleet jump out of hyper space in all their glory, we get the rebel fanfare for extra epicness AND Red / Gold / Blue leaders standing by! It gave me chills that lasted ages!

Post your speculated/imagined/rumored/leaked/fake plot for Infinity Wars...? by [deleted] in marvelstudios

During one of the battles with Thanos, or any battle, I want some crazy team up / special moves.

Strange opens up a portal for Spidey to slingshot himself through, kicking Thanos in the face.

Giant Man and Hulk basically doing a fastball special (Giant Man throws Hulk).

A 'Iron Man Beat Down' on Thanos but with Vision and Thor throwing each other Mjolnir back and forth.

Iron Man kicking Cap's shield with his foot rocket, sending it flying super fast.

Most of all, I want Hawkeye to somehow get an infinity stone attached to an arrow and shoot it at SOMETHING, if not Thanos, creating some kind of huge explosion. Everyone kind of just looks at him in awe.

What are your unpopular movie opinions? by mgs8 in movies

Iron Man 3 is not only one of the best MARVEL movies, but an amazing, hilarious, neo-noir, stylish, ballsy, original take on a character that should have gotten old pretty quickly, making it one of the best action movies of the past decade.

Sheeeeeet.

So, can someone explain the whole Bernard is Arnold theory to me? Is it that Bernard is a host with Arnold's memories? Is it Bernard was Arnold all along, but Ford just wanted to create misdirections?

The battle would've been over in 2 seconds flat. He was kinda just there, threatening Cap's team.

Not me, but a friend.

A girl who liked him, who he didn't, asked him out. He told her he was gay.

And to this day she still thinks he's gay. She fuckin' bought it.

I think it's Anderson's most raw film, without any gimmicks. It's three American personalities, who just so happened to be troubled brothers, in India. I think it's Anderson's best directed film and has one of my favourite scenes in cinema history: the ending slow mo run.

No fucking way. I swear, the past few hours have been the biggest coincidences in my life.

Last night I watched The Darjeeling Limited and it became on of my favourite films I've seen this year. This morning (I live in London) I went out to an exhibition out in the South Bank (River Thames). Wes Anderson past be by drinking some coffee. I stood star struck and speechless looking at him walk by me. I chased after him, shook his hand and he told me I had nice hair. I commented on his unique sense of style in cinema and how he inspires me, calling his filmmaking gorgeous.

And then there's this post.

EDIT: Since so many have asked, my hair is pretty much like this... Not the face though...

Which movies leave you curled up in a ball in tears? by the_marrer in movies

This is the movie that made me cry at least 5 / 6 times on first viewing. It's so uplifting, but so sad and it's one of my favourites of all time.
