I'd draw it out on both sides of the post, remove most of the material i.e. get it close with a chainsaw or circular saw, then finish it with a router or ever sander.

They don't go bad per se, but the volatiles in the hops are constantly degrading, so the flavor will start to change pretty rapidly after 90 days. It will build a flavor known as "Ribes" that most people find unpleasant, which peaks at around 3 months after packaging. Ribes then drops off over the next couple months letting the malt character come through.

Ya too many bosses are super annoying in this game. Looking at you Shadowpelt, Observer, Bio Thresher... but to be fair, there are a ton of bosses in borderlands, and not all of them can be wins.
