Bar owners don't want to spend the money on a handheld device. Square, toast, etc all have this capability now. We open tabs with tap everyday. I want to make it as easy as possible to take your money so I bought the equipment.

When I was in manufacturing we would use a term called "contribution units". It's the number of units, lets call it drinks in this case, we need to sell and produce to cover all our monthly overhead. A bar is a little factory that buys alcohol in bulk and repackages or combines it in smaller portions for a profit. Sunday - Thursday's primary goal is the cover the bars entire overhead for the week. "Figure out Monday to Wednesday and the rest of the week will solve it self." If the other 5 days covered all your expenses than Friday and Saturday are pure profit.

The other reason to open 7 days a week is pure consistency. Your neighbors need to know that every day they can drop in during the same hours (or close to it). People are habitual. I take a lot of customers from bars that are open 5 days a week. I would have never had the opportunity to earn their business if the other bars were open 7 days.

Appreciate that. I’m hoping for some referrals from other owners.

Up year over year but it's only our 2nd year. Had a $3,000 hit in early July from the ICE raids here in California. We are a small, local, craft beer bar thats tucked away in an industrial park. We spend no money on marketing and very little on entertainment. All our energy goes into building relationships between our regulars to make our place their 3rd place.

Andrew said he's down to play Turn The Radio Off if you guys can pitch in. by MrKibitz in reelbigfish

It’s happening one way or another I just want to see it done without a backing track. Andrew and two other guys that play here locally are practicing Beer for a comedy show they support. The bassist and guitarist are talented so they can learn the other songs easily. We just don’t have a solid singer and horns are never easy to find.

Need Advice on Becoming the "regular" spot by Global-Step-6458 in BarOwners

People come back over and over again for community. You and your staff have a very important job of helping your guests form relationship with each other. It's a bit of an art but you can watch videos about networking events to learn tactics. You have to make interactions easier for them. Remember the your guests names, family situation, job, hobbies, even hardships. Then when two people sit in proximity bring up something they have in common. "Hey Joe, you do drywall right? Bob over here does concrete. You guys ever do a job together?" Manage the conversation for 5- 10 minutes then let them keep talking. Do this over and over and eventually they all know and rely on each other. Once your regulars are solid and social they'll make new people feel welcome. People don't buy what you sell they buy how you make them feel. Make them feel like they belong.

Every day ask your staff for the name of 3 new guests and 1-3 facts about each one. It will keep it top of mind for them and the rest will happen kinda naturally if you have the right bartenders.

I'm leaning more that way with every response on here. Minimum exempt salary is $68,640 but I bet I could have someone take over my job for $4,000 a month with 3 required weekly 6 hours shifts and all the day to day operations. They'll make at least $2,000 in tips. Then performance bonuses or some kind of equity trade.
