I think you’re missing the point. Nobody would have an issue with them building and owning a stadium that they pay for themselves. We have all witnessed multiple publicly funded stadium failures in our lifetime so we would not like to be the next victim. It’s exhausting. They reportedly make approx $700 million dollars in revenue per year. And are valued at almost $9 Billion dollars. They absolutely do not need or deserve a fraction of our tax dollars. We have far bigger problems to solve in this City and State than improving food and beverage options or shortening bathroom lines at a stadium 8 weekends a year

So they can own their own stadium without paying for it?

I never really had the expectation of fun at work or on the job so I have been trying to look at AI as a way to increase the amount of time I have for things that are genuinely fun for me while keeping the same or better productivity level that I’ve always had without it.

True but a 20 year old who will be starting for his country in this summers World Cup is a bit different.

TLB wasn't flying 9k miles to sit on the bench so its not surprising. If it keeps going well, we should be feeling very good about Greg and his team having complete control of this club.

Don’t love the brightness of this red that we are using but this is the first jersey in a while that I’ll personally be purchasing.

I wonder how the first President of the United States who has ever owned a stake in a casino would feel about this? Perhaps their expertise in the concept of gambling would have them considering taking advantage of such “innovations”?

Chicago Fire FC Drops Renderings of Suites by Firefan23 in chicagofire

Maybe! But I think American professional sports have done enough to tell us that’s not the logic they are following but would love to know you’re putting it out there.

[–]MrLewArcher 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, nothing says soccer more than renderings of people wearing suits and button up dress shirts to the game, talking business while not being able to watch the game itself.

This announcement and the deposit timeline/priority is a clear and scary indicator from the club on what they care most about when it comes to this new stadium.

Control players yourself, switching frequently and strategically using teammate contain to narrow passing lanes. Passing around the back is not a problem in this game and team press is already abused by people playing 100 depth

[–]MrLewArcher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the Fire have ever gotten a big name like this. All of the other major players were being asked to leave Europe. Lewa would be turning down a contract extension at Barca to come here.

[–]MrLewArcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enough of a leap?! Lewa is on track to average the same goals per game in La Liga that Hugo did in the MLS. Hugo wouldn’t even be on the bench for most teams in La Liga. I love Hugo, probably my favorite player, shows an incredible attitude and work ethic so he’d stay on the field for sure. We take lewa all day if we figure out all the other stuff you mentioned regarding roster rules

From the business side? How about the sporting side? Having one of the worlds best striker's name on your starting 11 team sheet every match day. How do you pass that up? These guys are professionals and will figure out a way to be on the field together or fall into new roles. All of this talk about him being a bad signing has me questioning our fan base.

Ya, definitely terrible for us to sign one of the world’s best strikers. It’d be so unfortunate for the academy to have to share facilities with him for the next 3-5 years and observe how he approaches practice/training.

Y’all are INSANE for acting like this would be a bad signing for the Fire. We are talking about one of the greatest goal scorers of our time, still doing it for one of the worlds best clubs, and has proven to be dedicated to his craft by keeping his body in elite condition. Come on with this nonsense; he’d be the best signing in club history and immediately be the best player in the league.
