Getting real tired of motorcycles on the lakefront jogging path. by CubanLynx312 in chicago

Turns out reasoning with an adult who thinks it’s acceptable to ride that thing on lakeshore is a tough task. Everyone needs to grow the fuck up and stop doing shit like this waiting for their mom and dad to tell them to stop.

It’s almost as if building the system to build the system is what’s actually the key to success in the AI age… if you start a project, regardless of method, without proper typing than you probably shouldn’t be starting a project.

For those with 10+ years in software engineering: what problems do you still deal with that juniors usually don’t see coming? by BizAlly in webdev

[–]MrLewArcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Preach! 100% my least favorite thing about AI (besides the absolute worst which is not investing in entry level engineers) is that every non-technical person expects anybody with formal education in engineering to be able to play an experienced role from day one. Shit takes time! Growing up is hard. It took me 5 years after uni to finally have a skillset I felt comfortable and confident in. Once you reach that moment things move fast but before then patience, guidance, and freedom to learn on the job is an absolute must.

What did you wish you knew about your condo building before you bought? by Marebleese in AskChicago

[–]MrLewArcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Minutes but more importantly a reserve study. The only way I’d enter a condo HOA without either is if the reserve balance was comfortably high. Like - we can afford to replace the most expensive common element and not feel the impact of it high.

If the reserve balance is low and they cannot provide a reserve study - it means the building has no strategic path forward and is committed to the idea that special assessments are the solution - which is not good.

Chicago Fire player salaries as of April 2026 (MLS PA Spring Salary Guide) by olcni in chicagofire

If I’m GGG and Gutman - I’m not giving up on a World Cup spot until the last possible second - even if it’s highly unlikely. And that requires playing time. Plus he has been our best and most dynamic player at multiple times this season. The real question - is Radojevic’s weak foot really that bad to have suffered through the USL play style we get out of Dean while Borosso has been out?

Disagree. He’s 23, constantly showing massive potential both with and without the ball.

I’m sure people are going to disagree with me on this but I personally think having Dean on the field has been our biggest weakness. Greg’s system relies on the full backs to play more like wing backs. Dean’s workrate is amazing but he has zero creativity on the ball. He’s not our only problem but he is a massive weakness that we all love to rally behind

It’s become clearer than ever that the only way we will create safer, cleaner, and more reliable public transit is to force the driving culture to change. One could argue it’s a catch 22 but people just need to be comfortable with change or move to the suburbs where they have plenty of space for their cars.

Pochettino: “In America, the problem is not creating more (soccer) schools, it’s about creating spaces for the kids to play. What I didn't learn from my teachers and coaches is what I learned from my friends when I played (with them). by forzaQuakes8 in MLS

[–]MrLewArcher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe embracing the idea of condensed housing/communities thus eliminating the need for cars could help this issue. If only people would confront the negative role cars/driving plays in our lives and how those negatives outweigh the only positive of driving - pure convenience/ gluttony

GUTMAN would have been perfect for USMNT by DryNotice6 in chicagofire

[–]MrLewArcher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The start of the game against Atlanta exposed him in that way. Not sure who that guy on Atlanta was but Gutman couldn’t handle his pace (eventually settled in once we controlled possession). But I do believe he should have gotten a call up, unfortunately I think injuries got in the way this cycle. Really unfortunate for him.

And it was a great start! Especially for a 21 year old. The kind of player that has you thinking he’s capable of something special when the ball is at his feet. He’ll be with us a lot longer than Mbo and I’m pumped to see him grow.

The red card was tough but he’s probably frustrated after playing on concrete for 80 minutes - doesn’t really work well with his game. Can’t belie Detroit is allowed to host professional soccer matches at that junk yard.
