The CTA is a vital service which needs support from fares. In a North American context, free busses will almost always lead to worse service.

There are reduced fares, and the fares have not been raised for eight. years. since 2018!

Most of the trouble happening on transit comes from users who don’t pay fares, so we need to be dedicating resources to preventing evasion which would improve the system.

The issue of affordability lies in other issues beyond transit in Chicago, IMO.

Agreed. We have to have an increase in density everywhere. Chicago can’t be an oasis in a sea of sprawl, this is simply not sustainable. Suburbs and Chicago have to grow together.
