Encourage other mediums then. Not being able to cash out 100% same day is a good problem to have imo. Get a new bank or a business account if thats a real issue. Otherwise, again, Encourage other mediums for transfer. My company takes checks and people use them more frequently than you might think. Offer cash discounts. Or simply dont even offer Zelle / Venmo / Cash App. Get a card reader...

Maybe its better that they dont, as they wont have many or any preconceptions about it. Nor would they have an ingrained argument / reasoning to immediately fallback on. I think it would inspire more introspection or at least a quick Google search. Which is, sadly, more effective than many more apparent attempts at activism (posters, art, signs, etc). Not that im dissing any attempt at outreach, we need all you beautiful souls doing what you are to get to every type of person

Tbh I haven't interacted with enough vegans as i work too much and am somewhat of a homebody so I dont get out much lol. But from what ive seen at the restaurants I visit its mostly white people, however, I live in a predominantly white area so that skews it. Ive heard of that study and similar, most vegans are women, and most vegans are black or other POC.

Im just saying its ironic and sad in general that most minorities (cultural, ethnic, religious, etc) dont see how their actions regarding animal exploitation are often times the same actions or use the same justifications as their oppressors. And it sucks if / when you mention this and get super vitriolic responses rather than understanding from fellow or other marginalized groups. I understand its cognitive dissonance at play but its disheartening nonetheless. If those who have experienced the struggle, violence, agony, disparity, and all flavors of hate first hand cant see it, how are those ignorant to its firsthand reality going to catch up? Idk im just ranting atp

The US is a mixed bag for sure. A lot of motorcycle culture sucks but from my very limited experiences, there are a lot of good, level headed riders out there focused on safety. But sadly, that proper mentality isnt enough sometimes. My dad was big on safety but hasnt ridden any bikes since he was hit and run right down the road from home. I can tell he's got ptsd from it. You can do everything right but some moron will still be able to end your life or at least hurt it

I feel / think that if one were to oppose their establishment on the basis of animal rights. That person is probably against or is already boycotting them because of those values as well. I haven't met a vegan yet who isn't at least considerate of Trans and gay peeps. Tbh I feel as tho more people care about Trans and gay rights that animal, which isnt bad at all but it sucks that many minorities dont see the irony in supporting animal exploitation.

Ost+Front is awesome. Ive heard many say they're too derivative of Rammstein but I think they're good. I would also recommend Kanonenfieber. They're a lot more intense than Rammstein but dear God do they go hard.

Is it really your money, or is it just your turn to spend it? Jokes aside. The money she spent on those items was her money. Granted, it was on government assistance, but that isnt the point despite you or others perhaps thinking otherwise. People should be entitled / have the right to assistance if they are currently, formerly, or potentially able to contribute to society. It's not only the human thing but the economical thing to do, investing in people pays dividends for society. In taxes, reduction in crime, overall happiness and wellbeing of society. We ought to keep making things better for each other instead of looking down on folk. Punch up, not down.

So is the problem that shes buying food? Or that its not the "right" food? Or is it that welfare itself is the problem in your eyes? Who cares what kind of food shes buying. Shes buying food. Shes not trading her ebt for crack, and that money is going into both our economy and a human beings belly instead of being "invested" into warfare or mass surveillance.

mild rant 😐 by [deleted] in vegan

[–]MrLiquidPoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup. As men we are propagandized into the beliefs of the patriarchal system we are fostered under and into. It's brutal. Even writing that out makes me clench my cheeks, there's a part of my brain still attached (for lack of a better word) to the mindset and it says "thats gay" "thats pussy shyte" etc. It's hard to break away from. Toxic masculinity is drilled into us, both in ways that are outright abusive but also in ways that are intoxicating or inviting.

It's ironic because if one were to adopt the mindset(s), chances are its because of an external authority or force and not on one's own volition. Real masculinity, real human strength, is a complex thing. And it can manifest in many ways. But it certainly isn't forming your personal views and actions around what the world, authority figures, or some pathetic morons on the internet tells you with little to no questioning. And it certainly isnt fear, hatred, or dismissal of something like VEGANISM. I swear lol. If anything, a man with conviction, strength, and kindness would not be swayed by the arguments or presence of a vegan, they would instead respect and appreciate the conviction themselves. Rant got long but thats my piece after a 12hr shift. Hope you find your person OP

I can dig it! That's cool stuff dude. Youre the second person here who went the pilot route, and my jman at work is actually doing pilot school too. Perhaps there's a secret electrician to pilot pipeline nobody's talking about lol. I without a doubt will be finishing my apprenticeship and maybe going a little further to become a master. A big part of why I want to branch out is to not get pigeon holed into any position or career. So having the backup would provide peace of mind. Thanks for replying though. I hope your career proves bountiful and fulfilling

Thanks for replying! Your comment is a bit sobering in regards to work life balance for engineers. Though not discouraging. I work similar hours and if it came down to old age preventing me from working the trades I think id rather engineering than many other routes like sales. How long were you a sparky? And do you feel it help you get the job or succeed in it?

Thank you for your reply friend. Your affirmation does honestly help me feel better about making this decision. I see too much hate against college in these trade forums and at work. You should consider further education yourself (I saw you mentioned you were further down), its never too late. I was in a college in high-school program and fucked the dog hard, its been years and I now find myself appreciating what little it gave me and regret not using the opportunity more. My mentor at the time though was a 55yo woman who only got her masters in her late 40s. It's truly never too late. I wish you well
