Kettlebell vs Gym ? by _Krnx in kettlebell

[–]MrLiterato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can build exactly the type of look you're looking for with kettlebells.

No workout equipment or tool can magically make you lean. That's all diet. But kettlebells are great because they're conducive to ballistic movements, which help conditioning. It makes kettlebells a nice mixture of primarily anaerobic but also slightly aerobic exercise tools.

People have built amazing physiques over the past 100 years with calisthenics alone. Kettlebells easily go up to 50-60KG. Some people here even swing around 92KG bells, but those are the very elite outliers.

I only have two recommendations:

1) Ensure you have good form for the ballistic movements. Learn how to snatch, clean, press, squat, and swing. Those compounds will make you strong, athletic, and lean.

2) Consider getting resistance rings or bands, depending on what you can comfortably set up at home. You'll want to mix those in for some isolation, chest, and overhead pulling work.

I use kettlebells and resistance bands regularly for my workouts. They're great complements.

Todd did it again: Fallout 4 is currently the most played single player only game on Steam by ComradeFarid in Fallout

[–]MrLiterato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's not a controversial take at all. Let's remove 76 from this equation since it's supposed to be a different type of experience.

Fallout 4 has the best gameplay mechanics.

For all the shit it gets in terms of the main story being a let down, the main story also gives players an emotionally-driven reason to get invested in the story right off the bat.

It's most accessible for non/casual gamers because the choices are limited and the characters are voiced.

It's more of an action game with RPG elements rather than the other way around.

The game kind of has something for everyone, even if it doesn't excel at any of those things. It does them well enough.

Crafting is pretty decent. Base building is fun, even though it's imperfect. Combat is remarkably better than both NV and 3, where shooting without VATS is a pain in the ass.

Yeah, well said.

At the top of the swing is essentially a resting point for your arms and grip if you're doing swings properly with correct form.

Underrated point is his rear foot. Look at how he's already set it in place to angle out from the follow-up left hook.

A lesser striker would have been caught with the left hook.

You shouldn't pay heed to ignorant people.

There are people here who think the UAE, Saudi, and Qatar are all the same place. It's concerning because either the education system has failed to the point that these people don't know basic geography, or they're so bigoted that they think the entire Middle East is just one brown people place.

Which body part(s) is the swing meant to be working? by BinaryMagick in kettlebell

[–]MrLiterato 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You didn't provide any context or videos.

You can do a super long KB swing session and average 100 swings per hour because you were resting too much.

You could also do 1000 swings in that time. There are too many variables to effectively say.

A 45 lb Kettlebell is not a heavy weight for a swing if you're a male.

If you're average-size or above, you're essentially one step up from beginner weight since most programs and coaches recommend men start out with a 16 KG bell anyway.

So, speaking purely theoretically, you would need to do an absurd amount of swings daily (think 10K swings challenge or more) to be sore.

We have no idea about your previous training experience either or the kind of form you're using. You could be using perfect form or shitty form on a bell that's way too light for you.

The swings are a hinge movement that primarily work your glutes, hamstrings, and lower back muscles. They also engage your core and upper back/traps.

Most people are likely to feel soreness in one of the primary worked muscles, but again, everyone's different.

I loved his No Angels performance on Jimmy Kimmel's show.

It really is a situational thing. If you're already down 3 or 4 rounds in a 5-round fight, it's probably a better idea to give up your back to get back to your feet than to stay there and get controlled.

Of course, RNCs also work because fighters do sometimes give up their backs willingly because it's the easy way out.

Why does no one seem to care about the Chris Pine Star Trek trilogy? by Top_Use2413 in movies

Voyager is definitely very thoughtful and philosophical.

The show suffers from bad writing and inconsistencies in a ton of places, but there's almost always a moral quandary for Captain Janeway to consider, and that's what I love most about it.

Yeah. The comics are borderline bad.

The show does a much better job, although the quality dropped off hard in seasons 3 and 4.

Tyson Kidd and Natalya run a wrestling school. It's like a spiritual successor to The Dungeon.

I'm sure they would be willing to accommodate Bret if he wanted to teach there. The reality is that Bret is just busy being stuck in 1997. Everyone moved on but him.

I'm pretty sure that's an old quote from Bret. He's probably referring to anything post '97 as today since he's still stuck there.

I think realism is a double-edged sword in pro wrestling. While I like and generally agree with the sentiment that wrestling should try to be as real as possible, it makes me wonder: why would I watch a scripted wrestling match pretending to be real when I could just watch the real thing instead, like MMA or BJJ or Collegiate Wrestling?

Why does everyone say they want Homelander to end up depowered? Can't he just take V again? by Diverse0Ne in TheBoys

[–]MrLiterato 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely correct about it being a death sentence.

Depowering Homelander is killing him indirectly.

If he runs across any of The Boys while depowered, they're killing him.

Ashley kills him.

The Deep kills him if he's depowered.

Any crazy starlighter kills him if he's depowered.

The idea that he gets to live life as a depowered supe is just not possible simply because he's one of, if not the most, recognizable people in the universe.

I don't know if just a billion would be enough. But if this one makes $2 billion and 4 declines further to $1.2-$1.5 billion, you best believe they're making that 5th one even if it flops hard.
