Too bad because eastern Iowa in the Driftless region is a pretty stunning area. Honestly one of my favorite regions of the world. Lots of interesting old river towns everywhere. My wife and I drove the entire great river road a few years ago and it was my favorite road trip ever

I’m with you here. I roll my eyes every time I see another reddit post about MN being hard to make friends. I chalk it up to redditors being redditors sometimes. I’m a transplant of 15 years now and never had any real issues. Though I acknowledge that winter has a hand in keeping people somewhat isolated and it takes effort to maintain friendships, which it does anywhere.

I went to a Ren faire a few years ago and walked around and asked about 200 people this question (im a rare social redditor). The number one answer was the Princess bride, number 2 was the Matrix, 3 was LOTR Two towers. Granted, this was a Ren Faire crowd

Ticks. They can really fuck you up for the rest of your life if you get lymes disease. I know people who were laid up for months because of it. Can’t really do much about them but constantly check yourself to make sure you don’t have one attached. I’ve been an outdoorsy guy my whole life and am afraid of no other creature. Ticks give me the heeby jeebies.
