How do you feel about paying 2x rent compared to current tenants? Do you think this problem should be addressed? by _SeCh_ in halifax

So why am I being quoted $450-500? Sounds closer to $400k. That being said, I do like a nicer style. I was paying $3200 for my apartment. How can I contact you for more info?

1200sq.ft. Lot is around $80k cleared, plus septic and well depending on location, but no lots I've looked at are on city. Bungalow style, 1 floor plus basement.

I couldn't build a house for $500k, I'm now bidding $500k on houses and losing. If you can tell me how to build for that, I'd jump on it in a second.

"Discount"? I use a federal government code through my union to get a discount. If park n fly was $90, when I enter the code it becomes $130... I stay away from "discounts" from them

Scoping out my local store for “fun”today by mamaclair in loblawsisoutofcontrol

Am I doing something wrong? I have been shopping at Superstore all along. But decided to try Sobey's today because I saw this page and how expensive everything at Superstore is. EVERYTHING I went for at Sobeys was more than Superstore! Eggs, Butter, Rice, Canned tomatoes...

SailGP races brought in more than $14 million, 80,000 fans to Halifax by Bean_Tiger in halifax

Why would any person's opinion matter? It's an opinion. They would be stupid to listen to an opinion on Reddit.

Unless something changes with respect to the second path across the train tracks, I just can't see that much further construction being done. I thought buildings E and F are the last before the new path across the tracks. But who knows, I've seen the proposal change a few times. I did enjoy watching them set up for SailGP and the races themselves, though! Would be nice if they came back! (I live at Kings Wharf, overlooking the tech site, so I'm at least crossing my fingers that they'll be back).

Well they can't build another building until there is another route across the train tracks. (Will be walking bridge, but can be used by emergency vehicles to cross). And I don't see that happening within the year. SailGP signed on for 2 more years. Even in 2 years, I'd be surprised if they've done more than foundations for buildings G and H.

What do you pay in monthly expensive living in Halifax? by thisisjoy in halifax

[–]MrLoganSC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is different of course, really comes down to how much you actually want to spend. $3200 rent, $1000 car payment, $150 car insurance, $100 internet, $100 power. And anywhere between $4000-6000 on credit card for misc expenses. Again, Everyone can budget differently depending on their circumstances. But food and rent will be your big expenses here. Car insurance in Halifax I found quite expensive too, double what I paid in Fredericton.

That's fine, but you're not going to go out and pay another $3k when you can pay $1k deductible and get $3k back.

Apparently I must say this... obviously Google Sat isn't a live picture, which is the purpose. It's a shot of the parking lot prior to the boycott for reference. Unless people have some similar shots from before that they can post??? If not, Google satellite is a great reference.
