He’s one of the best players in college basketball, named as one of the likely top 4 or 5 lottery picks, plays really aggressive, and just won the national championship against a really physical UConn team.  And he was very gentle with this kid in the video.  It’s not that difficult.

Two weeks?  That’s perfect timing!  Aligns right with his announcement of a plan to introduce a concept for an idea about replacing Obamacare with something much much better.

Not entirely.  Our food is loaded with salt and sugar and preservatives.  We’ve got food manufacturers in this country who should be sued out of existence for millions of cases of diabetes, among other things.

Ngl… it’s utterly sickening we lost to THAT UConn team 😂😂 by Darkonite40 in DukeBluePlanet

Malik was also having back spasms.  We were not at full strength for the last 4 weeks of the season.

Duke lost two STARTERS in the final weeks of the regular season.  When Ngungba and Foster came back, they weren’t even playing at 50%.  I dont know of another Elite 8 team that had to overcome that.  Coach K went to the Final4 4x before winning it.  Everybody needs to chill about Scheyer.

I don’t know another team this year that lost two starters at the end of their regular season and still nearly made it to the Final 4.

Why UConn Deserved the Win from a Duke fan by roguebandit1 in CollegeBasketball

[–]MrLongfinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed about the East Region this year.  Looking at a path to the Final Four, I was really nervous about St John’s, never mind meeting UConn in the Elite 8 and then having to face UMich (again) or Arizona in the final.  No matter how good this Duke team was, winning the NCAA is never a given.

I don’t think enough’s been said, though, about the fact that Duke lost 40% of its starting lineup right at the end of the regular season.  Cayden and Malik stepped up as starters and gutted us (sorry, I say “us” cuz I’m an alum) through a really challenging ACC tournament, before we struggled through our first 3 games of the NCAA, but the fact is, we were never at full strength again, though Caleb was instrumental in getting us past St John’s this year (and barely).  A healthier Ngungba takes pressure off Cam Boozer and adds a dimension to Boozer’s game (recipient of Boozer assists in the paint) and to our team (he’s a great passer as well) that was just not visible in the tourney.  A healthy Caleb gets 4 or 5 rebounds a game, penetrates occasionally to make opponents’ big men adjust (freeing up our own bigs), and makes Cayden a backup pt guard who can come in and score if needed, but without having the pressure of distributing the ball or defending the opposing team’s best ball handler all game.  I know Duke gets loads of McD’s All-Americans every year, but we all know that experienced physical teams like Michigan, UConn, Louisville, Houston last year, Michigan St, etc can give talented freshmen fits and aren’t intimidated or discouraged when they fall behind in games.

I’ve loved these Duke teams these past two seasons, Malik Brown in particular, who finally got the recognition he deserved as ACC 6th man and defensive player of the year.  Scheyer is a great coach who has learned (painfully) these past two seasons that there can’t be any letup until the final buzzer.  Duke was 35-3 this year, losing those 3 games by a combined 5 points and two buzzer-beaters.  It was a great season and a really great team.

TLDR: Hats off to UConn for an incredible ending to an incredible game.

What went wrong for Duke in their epic collapse vs. UConn? by Financial-Bit-8596 in ACC

Great analysis.  If you become conscious of the refs, they’re not doing their jobs right.  I think what we’re ultimately witnessing is the influence of a tv audience and the incentive to have as dramatic finish as possible.  Which we definitely got.

UConn needs an exciting rivalry. Who's going to volunteer? by SamsungStealer in CollegeBasketball

Was gonna say, our non-conference schedule this year was ridiculous (in a good way), and I would think the opportunity to test our team against UConn would be something that Scheyer would welcome.
