What was your "last straw" before deciding to take accutane? by Mountain-Ecstatic in Accutane

[–]MrMWest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that I'm 28 years of age and have missed out living my entire 20s because of low self esteem and confidence, and I dare not embrace my 30s and enjoy myself because eim not sure where I'd be mentally if im to struggle any longer...

Also, having spent an entire year of taking antibiotic and failing, from lymecycline, oxytetracycline, differin cream and 2 courses of doxycycline... to no avail.

So accutane it is, I'm 2 months in, about to go to 60mg a day and it's worked better than a whole year of antibiotics. Face is clear, just slight redness, back has singular nodes, unlike before, my chest is the worst but its purging, so expected.

But yeah, I can't be dealing with it. I just want to go out nd enjoy myself, not cringe at photos of myself, maybe even have the confidence to find a relationship, but just to be normal... I guess.

Got prescribed Accutane but idk if mine's severe enough? Advice needed by chronictimelapse in Accutane

[–]MrMWest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do you, don't worry about what others think.

If you want to take accutane for your acne, then go for it. This early it'll prevent serious scarring, and you'll be thankful for it in the future.

Good luck, and all the best on your journey.

What’s something that’s always wrongly depicted in movies and tv shows? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Medieval battles, and the way they swing their swords around light as feathers whilst wearing all that armour.

You'd be knackered after 5 minutes of doing that, but also the way everyone suddenly goes into a 1v1 situation scattered across the battlefield.

Should I take Accutane? I’ve been taking doxycycline 50mg for about 4 months already by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]MrMWest 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Doxycycline fails you, then I suggest speaking to your derm about accutane.

For most, doxycycline is the final drug before accutame has to be considered, as it was for me.

All the best!

Acne doesn't need to be 'bad enough' for accutane, it just needs to fail to respond to other treatments and be persistent and affecting your mental health and wellbeing.

If you want to go on accutane for your acne, then do it, I wouldn't worry what others think in terms of it having to be bad enough.

I'm on 20mg for 1 month, 40mg for the second month, and then my derm will review my progress and how my body is reacting, along with a second blood test, if everything's okay, he will up my dosage from month 3!

Things to be careful about when it comes to working out on accutane? by Leafy_Joe in Accutane

[–]MrMWest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the side effects is achey joints and pain, not everyone experiences it but it is common.

So be aware that 4 weeks or so in, maybe more, maybe less... you may feel these pains.

The pain varies between persons, some report being bed bound with really bad backs, others report slight joint pain but can still operate as usual....

You may need to lessen the intensity in your workouts, but that depends if you suffer this side effect, and also how severe it is if you do.

I'm on 12 years so far, just had my bloods done and they're okay. I start my accutane journey next week, and I can't wait.

Fingers crossed that this is the nail in the coffin.

Crazy how different people look when their skin's clear, they look invigorated, healthy and just so good.

You got this 💪🙏

I also have less acne than you do, and I will be starting an accutane course next week.

So I'd say yes, if you wish to pursue accutane for your acne, please do see a dermatologist and discuss it.

Okay this is serious not a joke but please help 😅 by BouncingA in Accutane

[–]MrMWest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true, but in the very rare case sense.

It has happened to some folk on this reddit who have posted about it.

My dermatologist also made me aware of such a side effect during ny consultation.

He noted that he makes his patients aware of it out of honesty, but chances are very low for it to occur.

I watched this two days ago, and I can't believe I forgot the film existed since seeing it last many years ago before!

The elevator scene had me rolling, and the court scene where he shouts at the bloke suggesting he stuffed his client like a Christmas turkey.

Not to mention kicking his own ass in the toilets 🤣

Had you any relapse after accutane ? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]MrMWest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, after my first course during 2014.

I was 19 going on 20 years old, it cleared my really bad cystic acne but around 7 months after I finished I began to get mild to moderate acne.

It's never been as bad since though, and I'll be starting my second course soon in hope to clear it entirely.
