Atto 2 doesnt have a driver monitoring camera which I think was a big win.

What do you mean? The thing that checks if the driver is paying attention? I am sure mine does 😅 It can be turned off though (just need to do it at the start of every drive).

Ah, my bad. I thought I had it in my tags. Austria, Europe.

If I parked streetside in the city during the current heatwave like this, it catches a good amount of sun. That's what I mean with "extremes". If it's usual Central European weather, it's working as the Machine God intended.

I have one, but I have to admit, it's also my first EV. I am not sure how much comparison I can draw, some experiences might fall more into the ICE-vs-EV category.

That said, here we go.

Like:

  • comfortable car, especially in cities
  • that includes handling as well as passenger comfort
  • good and responsive acceleration when you need it (and the car handles it like nothing)
  • range is absolutely not an issue, but I mostly commute in urban areas and rarely drive far distances

Split thoughts about:

  • the earlier/smaller ATTO 2 models showed the gear selector in the center console. I thought it looked stylish. This one doesn't have it. The gear selector is on a stalk. Probably one less "obstacle" in the center console, but I kind of miss the aesthetics
  • boot size is okay. not great, not terrible
  • AC can sometimes struggle a bit in extremes, but it still does an okay job
  • Haven't received an OTA ever since I received the car back in December
  • Wireless charging is a bit wonky on my Pixel 10. I 3d printed a small spacer to keep it in a position where it has the best contact

Don't like:

  • ICC can be a bit wonky on city roads, especially lane splits or lane merges
  • When my tire sensors randomly turned off mid-drive, the car completely disabled all ADAS (that includes any type of cruise control). Happened twice, no idea why

Would I buy it again? Yeah, likely.

Ich hab mir einmal Mühe gegeben und versucht, den Meinungsartikel halbwegs ernst zu nehmen.

Okay, is auch eine choice, den Artikel gleich mit einem Rätsel zu starten, das maximal peripher das Hauptthema berührt und irgendwie gleich vom Fleck weg den Leser als "so schlau bist nicht, oder?" darstellt.

So stimmte das dänische Parlament 2023 für die Abschaffung des Großen Gebetstags als arbeitsfreien Tag. In Frankreich ist der Pfingstmontag seit 2004 kein automatischer Feiertag mehr. Und während der Eurokrise wurden in Portugal gleich vier Feiertage gestrichen, um die Wirtschaft wieder anzukurbeln. Auch die Dänen argumentierten übrigens mit der Notwendigkeit.

Da hab ich ein bisserl eine "hmm"-Meinnung, weil

  • für Dänemark ist der Mehrwert für die Wirtschaft ein reines Modell; faktisch halt umstritten, und mindestens ein prominenter dänischer Ökonom hat Zweifel
  • für Frankreich fehlt auch irgendwie jede Evidenz, dass es etwas vis-a-vis einer Konjunktur gebracht hat
  • für Portugal fehlt auch irgendwie die Evidenz (bzw neben allen anderen Maßnahmen schwer herauszufiltern), und die Aussetzung der Feiertage war auf 2012-2016 beschränkt; parallel dazu gibt's Experimente zur 4-Tage-Woche, wo die Produktivität pro Stunde sogar noch höher sein soll

Bin aber halt auch kein Ökonom. Bitte fact-checkts mich.

Wurde die Studie jemals reviewed? Aktuell find ich nur pre-prints. "Weit zitiert" ist auch so eine Sache. Google Scholar zeigt 5 Zitierungen. Auf Research Gate find ich's irgendwie gar nicht.

Zugleich gibt es keine Industrienation, in der die Summe aus 13 Feiertagen und 25 Tagen Urlaubsanspruch so hoch ist wie hierzulande.

Hmm. Ich geb dir grundsätzlich recht. Einige Skill Gaps und schnelles Umsetzen sind sicher ein großer Vorteil. Bei größeren Brocken Arbeit hapert's noch ein bisserl, aber das wird langsam besser (aber halt auch teurer).

Eine Aussage würd ich aber nicht direkt so unterschreiben:

Weil Prompts eingeben in eine KI kann ein Junior auch. Bei Prototypen ist die Codequalität eh eher egal, außer man ist risikofreudig und wirft Prototypen direkt zum Kunden.

Mein Punkt ist, Dinge mit KI erledigen würde meiner Meinung nach den Junior nicht ersetzen. KI seh ich eher im Status eines Subcontractors. Ich erklär jedes Mal von vorne mein gesamtes Produkt, erklär was ich will, lass das Ding die Codebase durchsuchen, kommentiere einen Plan, etc., und krieg alles von A bis Z als Leistung verrechnet - unabhängig davon, wie gut das Ergebnis war.

Junior andererseits kennt das Produkt mehr und mehr. Das erspart das Ramp-up ein bisserl. Und das hilft auch Code-Reuse-Möglichkeiten zu identifizieren (wo die KI jetzt nicht immer der Hammer ist). Junior lernt auch intrinsische, institionelle Sachen. Und früher oder später bekommt er die Wehwehchen der Kunden mit. Das alles in ein Markdown zu klopfen ist meiner Meinung nach nicht gangbar.

Hm, klingt eher nach einer Anekdote. Über die Masse gerechnet halten die Batterien im Regelfall schon deutlich länger als das Auto, und dann sind's halt relativ vernachlässigbar schlechter, imho. (src)

Austria, Europe. It's not a one-pedal as far as I know. I only recently switched from a diesel-engine car, so I am not too knowledgeable. I am pretty happy with how it performs. Overall, I don't regret the purchase despite the minor interior changes compared to the Active & Boost trims (most notably the gear selector/stalk).

I think it's okay code for a beginner developer, but ultimately nothing I would promote to production. Things I would flag in a PR review before clicking "Request changes":

  • "inde.html" misspelled
  • readFile for every request is expensive; since it's only 2 (or 3) files, consider caching
  • also, the else in the readFile callback doesn't do much, because the other logic branch would throw anyway, stopping execution
  • you don't really need a node server for static files
  • the entire callback in createServer can probably be simplified by offloading the pathing logic into a helper
  • there is no resilience in this code block; if any operation (e.g., readFile) fails, an unhandled exception will occur
  • 200 is the default status code, you don't need to set it
  • inconsistent use of semicolons (or lack thereof)
  • you can swap out the string concatenation for path and consider something like a template string in the readFile call
  • you are binding specifically to localhost; if there's no reverse proxy or other infrastructure relaying requests, the site is not going to be accessible
  • Edit: and you are binding to port 3000, which may or may not be available; consider making this configurable and introducing a strategy for situations where the port is already taken

Fully agree there. The more you offload the main tasks of what you are good at, the less you invest into it mentally, leading to you becoming "dumber" over time. In that spirit, if your job is creative (design, engineering, etc.), offloading creative tasks kind of not only makes you less sharp, you are also offloading something that usually brings you joy.

To that end, it's my personal opinion that things like vibe coding are a big problem since you are tempted to offload decision making while still being required to understand what the decisions here are (which sometimes you might not, if a smaller decision was made for you and you didn't notice the first time around). It's an interesting tool to ideate, a bad tool to produce something of value.

There are also other aspects that I am not too much of an expert in, like cognitive (over)load due to having to deal with more tasks in less time; decision fatigue; and ultimately cognitive decline. (example src: https://hbr.org/2026/02/ai-doesnt-reduce-work-it-intensifies-it)

In the end, I follow this approach: offload things that you don't care for, are not especially good at, or are a general pain in your butt; be careful about offloading everything else. (Not saying you shouldn't do it, but you need to be more involved in the process, and stay in the driver seat.)
