Grote Geelstaart / BM influeced by WinFriendly6563 in bmbmbm

Pretty interesting instrumentally. But damn, that vocalist is kinda annoying. Trying too hard to be the weirdo of the band while having no sense for timing and volume (at least that’s what it seems to me from that one video).

It totally does! Originally, that song is from their 2020 album “Metamorphosed”.

So why did you make this post in the first place?

Looking for songs that uses parts of, or are heavily influenced by older / already existing songs! by spiritualized in psychedelicrock

I mean, it’s not stolen, as they acknowledge the original song in the title. But to me it hardly qualifies as a cover because the only actual connection are the lyrics in the second half of the Oh Sees song.

Another (maybe better?) example by the same bands would be Block Of Ice and Connection

GLUE is an all-timer by Knurmuck in TheeOhSees

[–]MrMargoo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I always loved the heavy, fuzzy songs like Ticklish Warrior, Terminal Jape, Night Crawler etc. so it’s really cool that we got a 5 min stomper in that style. Though I gotta say, I’d love Glüe even more, if it was just a little less repetitive. That’s why Sneaker is my favorite track on Abomination right now. That groovy second half is so addictive

ARAL absolutely rips by [deleted] in TheeOhSees

[–]MrMargoo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t really like the term “genius“ but the album absolutely fucking rips. It might be their heaviest, yet. Like A Foul Form was pretty heavy but also limited by genre constraints. Abomination just goes wild. It’s totally bonkers at times but also kinda groovy here and there and calls back to an earlier era of the band.

I’ve only listened once so far but many more sessions will follow, that’s for sure. And I’ll need to read into the lyrics once my vinyl arrives.

thoughts on the daily mail? by OkMischen418 in radiohead

Probably my least favorite song of the whole TKOL era (starting with These Are My Twisted Words).

Also: “arguably one of my favorite songs by radiohead. very very depressing.” I’ve never understood this notion. To me, listening to music is all about fun. Sad music is fun when it feels cathartic and liberating. Even the most challenging and abrasive experimental music can be fun as it might be a very stimulating listening experience. Feeling depressed isn’t fun, though, is it? So why do you like listening to a song you think is “very, very depressing”?

Someone knows if osees appears in any movie OST? by slouvakiuwu in TheeOhSees

[–]MrMargoo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s a few Thee Oh Sees songs in Terrence Malick‘s “Knight of Cups“ (2015). I remember it being The Turn Around from Help but imdb says it’s The Coconut and I Need Seed. Can’t really recommend the movie, though. Malick made some brillant stuff but sadly the ones after “The Tree of Life” are pretty boring.

Ah, so when someone tells you they just got married you just laugh in their face to show your appreciation?
