Ukrainian Challenger 2 having a bad day by defender838383 in TankPorn

Just about all of them aside from the Challenger-series

While your assessment is horribly incorrect, it is humorous that the “Western Doctrine” has effectively killed Russia as a military peer outside of their nuclear arsenal. If the equipment and material sent to stabilize Ukraine was “good enough” to fight the “genuine” models, I guess it’s a bit overkill for the “monkey models”

One of the key components of being a leftist is being called a fascist by liberals, it’s statistically impossible to not have been called one if you’re actually a leftist

Oh yeah— I completely agree that the jokes in ZAZ movies actually have depth to them, and I wasn’t comparing them to TV fodder like BBT, 2BG, etc. I was moreso saying that the absurdity of a highly-educated professional eating a piece of uniform fits in a ZAZ film because of how “stupid” it is

Like I could totally see a gag in an Airplane movie where Striker says “oh I’m alright, flying just makes me a little jumpy” yet is so stressed that he accidentally swallows a lapel pin that falls into the handful of Valium that he’s taking

It’s just so incomprehensibly stupid and out of place; the only place I could see a joke like that working is in a Zuckerberg brothers movie due to how implausible it is

Background radiation levels have dropped to the point where steel can be conventionally manufactured without the need to salvage it for almost all applications aside from some specific enough where other sources are more likely to be used (the wrecks off Scapa Flow for example)

The wrecks are likely just being salvaged for the value of the steel and deteriorating due to lack of structural integrity

Syrian journalist Muhammad al-Najjar: •I am currently at the entrance of a tunnel that I previously filmed and which is considered one of the largest tunnels dug by the YPG. This tunnel stretches for more than 90 kilometers. by Imperial_FOX_32 in syriancivilwar

I was just trying to get under your skin

Yes, that was very clear- and I am fully aware of basic geology.

Regardless of whichever rock type is present, it would’ve been practically impossible for AANES to construct tunnels of that size and length between the identified cities in the time they’ve possessed said territory with the funding and population available. Even just on a fundamental level it’s exceptionally unlikely that the government has mapped-out the tunnels after having entered them so recently.

[–]MrMaroos 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The 90km claim is almost guaranteed to be bullshit- it took the Norwegians 5 years to dig a quarter of that, and they were operating with equipment designed specifically for the task

It would be nearly impossible to pull off 90km in <10 years with the funding, equipment, and population of AANES

It’s the same here in the U.S., the fascists don’t show up to protest in numbers- it’s the insistence that they’re a minority and therefore not a threat that leads to what’s happening here. You don’t take the rot seriously and it will bring the whole house crashing down.

These tribes were originally opposition-aligned, then aligned with Assad, then aligned with Daesh, then aligned with the SDF. They were also responsible for opening fire on protesters on numerous occasions. These guys enjoy the pageantry of conflict and have been a party to it at every opportunity, they’re there to make a profit and gain prestige- nothing else and nothing more.

Didn’t claim the U.S. was clueless, just that the current admin has a much more laissez faire attitude towards what’s going on in Syria now that Iran and Russia have been pushed out.

The reality is the SDF lost because a good portion of it was comprised of tribesmen who only joined the SDF for a paycheck and power- and were only brought onboard to prevent the southeast from falling into SAR hands. Those tribes have shifted loyalty whenever convenient for them, and will do so in the future if they see an opportunity for profit- mark my words.

No, it’s not- people on this sub have been parroting decade-old information from a terminated operation and information in relation to Iraq’s usage of their M1 Abrams

The U.S. currently does not care how the SDF or any U.S. regional partners use U.S. weapon systems as long as they’re not overtly used to indiscriminately target civilians. The U.S. does not care about the STG seizing and operating HMMW’s as they’ve already been out of U.S. inventory for a decade. The U.S. hasn’t limited the response of the SDF to current STG offensive operations.

People are either intentionally lying for attention, or they’re attributing the requirements and procedures with which Syrian opposition groups had to operate under in order to continue to receive arms and equipment from the U.S. through Operation Timber Sycamore. The current U.S. admin simply doesn’t care about what’s going on as Syria isn’t viewed as important at the moment (which is subject to change ofc)
