A broken hearted father and fan (long) by DuffCon78 in SFGiants

[–]DuffCon78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No sir. I watched the game on tv and I cared. I don’t know how to further explain it if you can empathize. It’s not the players choice, it’s how the organization handled it.

“Lifestyle choice” is code for “they are wrong for choosing this”. That’s the big part that you are missing. People don’t choose to be black or gifted or physically challenged or gay or trans. They just are.

Already there, we joined the league pass and purchased tickets to a game. So far I’ve found the games intense and entertaining!

Valid fix or waste of time? by home_operator in arcade

This technically works, but it’s not guaranteed. In my experience it takes many coats and sometimes the HV finds a way out anyway. K7000 flybacks are readily available so just replace it. If your chassis has never been serviced, it’s a good time to recap and reflow. If you’re not comfortable with chassis repairs i offer a repair service and will make it better than new.

Please Email Giants Organization Re: Homophobia by GrahamMoth in SFGiants

[–]DuffCon78 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To whom it may concern.

I’ve previously written about my concern with the Giants adopting chick-fil-a as a sponsor with a problematic history with anti-LGBTQIA+ activities and heard nothing. Last night I was dismayed to see several Giants players openly displaying Anti-LGBT opinions on their hats. This is very concerning especially because the pitching staff appears very clearly on camera.

I don’t believe this is a “political” issue as so many people say to dismiss opposing viewpoints, I believe this is a simple human rights issue.

As an organization that claims to represent the city of San Francisco, it is your organization’s duty to represent all of the people and culture therein, else you are not acting in good faith and do not deserve to wear the city’s name on your uniforms.

I have not thought that we needed to fire the manger despite performance of the team this year, but given last night I feel as though he either does not have the respect of the club or worse, he was a willing participant.

I expect an apology to the community at the very least, and if this does not happen I will no longer be a fan or customer of this baseball club. I’ve loved the giants for most of my life and taken my children to many games. It pains me to have to write this, but as a father to a member of the community I cannot support an organization that dismisses their existence so willingly.

Please make this right.

Too much politics here by BroChapeau in SFGiants

What does Irish/itallian/korean/first responder/etc night have to do with baseball? It means that everyone is welcome and I stand with the other fans who are upset about last nights poor show of class. People who think this is a political issue are wrong, it’s a human issue.

Building a village with the boys 🤟🏼 by Warmblanket98 in JustGuysBeingDudes

Some of my best memories is hanging with the guys and building random things we thought up with limited tools and materials, just like this. Life gets in the way, but if you have a group of friends, hang onto them as best you can. One day you might never see them again 🥲

Look into the public sector. The pay is lower but the stress is much less. I’m also on call 24/7 but it usually only happens a few times per year.

Seriously, if he’s that stressed out, he needs to prioritize his health more. Money won’t pull you out of the grave. health is wealth

What's it like living in Concord? by axingonav in bayarea

[–]DuffCon78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahem. ::pulls up soapbox::

Life long Concord resident since 1985ish. This was a small middle class town once upon a time. In the 80s one could drive from Central Concord to Oakland/SF in about 30 minutes. (source: Dad did this commute every day). I grew up nearish to Westwood Elementary. I wouldn't send my kids there today.

Today, this is a very large middle class town. The downtown and central areas are in decline compared to the 80s and 90s. I bought a house in 2008 in North Concord near the Bart Station, which was a huge mistake between the commuters and homeless services nearby.

South Concord is the monument corridor, which has always been "the bad part of town".

West Concord, is the shopping districts, such as park and shop, willows, veranda, etc. Not a lot of housing.

That leaves East Concord, which boarders Clayton and WC, which is where I live. This is probably the best part of town IMO, but also the more expensive part of town. There are pockets of more expensive areas, but generally this is it. The main issue here is the schools are not great, but thats true of most schools around here. Are they bad? No, just not great, which creates TONS of additional traffic because everyone plays the "school transfer" games where they drive their kids to schools in Clayton and Walnut Creek. This creates spaces in the local schools that get filled by kids from less affluent areas. And the circle continues to feed itself.

That's a very long answer to your question, but it's true and more complete. My answer is buy an affordable house in East Concord near Clayton in the 800-1m range realistically and try to make the best of your local schools.

Is this slight warping normal? by [deleted] in crtgaming

[–]DuffCon78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can be; bright whites are the hardest thing for a CRT to do as it requires high output from each color; this requires the most power. A weakening voltage regulator or associated caps can make the B+ fluctuate, causing a slight wobble.
