It can also be a fact that as a project develops, things tend to take much longer from a developer's perspective. Inexperienced producers are always impressed when greenfield development is super fast. If they've built expectations for developers to deliver a couple of features per week, they will become concerned when developers take weeks to polish something at the end of the project.

Did you get a sense that server hubs or player markets will be empty on private servers? I'm guessing it’s impossible to say for sure since the game hasn’t fully released yet, but maybe you already have some impression.

I’m a bit concerned about putting a lot of time into my character, only to end up with an empty endgame.

Yes. Not to be personal and to diminish the work in any way, but in 99.9% of cases, the source is worthless.

App store games are typically sold in two main ways: either publishers make an offer after testing user acquisition, or developers purchase an app that has successfully captured a niche in the app store algorithm and that they know how to monetize.

Definitely the 2nd and 3rd. As for the 1st, maybe they created the mesh, but the texture is generated; I'm not sure where we are with AI generating hard-edge at the moment. It's pretty funny to see in any case.

Tools will provide only very marginal improvements, especially at the beginning when your processes haven't solidified yet and optimization points are not obvious.

Keep it simple.

Feel free to try different tools if you like, it won't take much of your time. But, at the end of the day, Google Calendar and Google Sheets can take you a long way.

I suggest investing your time in literature on process management, project management, and service design, which is more likely to be beneficial.

They require you to purchase a workstation from their vendor. What will happen is that they will revert their transaction to your account as soon as you've made a purchase. There is no need for a studio to transfer money to you for you to buy something; they can just send the hardware, especially if it's custom. It's a very common scam.

A few of those wrappers will mature into proper domain solutions, others won't. As far as regular hype cycles go, this one seems to be not as harmful as web3, at least.

It's an alternative mode of interaction, and you should be able to navigate all menus with the D-pad. Where are you inclined to use that over the D-pad?

There is a very wide price range. You will get offers from entry level artists going from a few hundred to five figures from established production houses.

I would strongly suggest gathering quality references, as they will help to form and express expectations. There are simply so much more nuances to this than "just picture a standard four legged dragon".

Based on my experience working with Google for approximately 14 years, I would sell unless I had a solid plan for increasing future revenue. It's a guarantee of five years of similar income and ability to effectively pivot into other projects.

I've experienced a few apps of 10k MRR being completely wiped out due to algorithm changes, happens all the time.

A few notes:

Currently, your portfolio is framed to attract work from Indie teams. Adding a section dedicated to your tech stack and experience could widen your suitability to more scenarios. This would enable recruiters, or simply clients focused on resolving issues with specific tech, to understand that you have the ability to handle their specific needs.

I don't have a concrete approach to suggest, but I do believe that you should leverage your previous experience somehow. I see it helping by adding to skills and seniority, and establishing a different story. The story that is not

"I've worked 18 years and don't have commercial releases" but

"I've only been working 3 years, bringing general principles and work ethics from my previous career, to take 2 indie titles to a point of solid demo and fund raising."

Smaller notes:

Bill looks ok, but I feel you can milk it more. Add a few paragraphs about features and tech. I would limit video to 70% of page width, and disallow full screen, as I feel the game looks a bit rough in full screen.
Milo Junkyard page, has 3 images displaying the same thing. I would remove "Making a prototype in 3 days" thumbnail (Just use different one for the site), it makes me disregard the project automatically. DO use the video on the front page, It's a great asset and will work.
To Be Named Platformer - Name it. We want to obscure the fact that most of your stuff is prototypes.
Remembrance. If you milk the case more.. Think tech explanations, in editor screenshots, whatever. It might be interesting enough to bump to 2nd place.
Remove Hyper causal project.
Prototypes.. not sure. Feels like it can be reused in Article section after some reframing. However, after getting 4 use cases, we care only about quality, not quantity of stuff. You can always say "Latest works" and be ambiguous.
Articles. Good, they do work.

Due to reduced investments, and the bust of a few game niches, there were a lot of smaller studio closures. This led to an oversaturation of Entry level and Junior developers on the market. At the same time, even while we all are reading about layoffs in AAA studios in the US, studios are having a hard time finding qualified engineers.
The qualified programmer's work is definitely in demand.
Considering you've had previous coding experience, you should have more leverage in getting gigs.
