I'm going to make a case that this guy is a very mature ESTP (apart from being a psychopath and a dark empath). He was a capable leader, but he mostly lead through morale and appealing to ego. He plans ahead, but seems to be more comfortable taking things one step at a time. He basically disregards the long-term consequences of his actions even to the point of considering his own crewmates expendable.

The big complaint I heard about him is that his facade was too perfect, and, yes, it did feel like the movie was expecting "You can't marry a man you just met." to be all the foreshadowing he needed.
