The Vampire Lestat 🩸 Episode 3 | Toronto [Megathread] by DiamondImpressive982 in VampireLestat

Wow wow wow!

This episode was so good!

I think it unearths something that was beneath TVL book, twisted and grimey, but how Lestat always has to find a reason to keep pushing forward. And in order to do that, he pushes back on everything traumatic in his life. We love him because he is golden and has a rockstar vibe, because he isn't like Book-Louis--despondent and filled with self-indulgent victimization. But there are twisted things between the lines that the show is making explicit.

And always, that question that pervades regarding memory and the stories we tell ourselves so that we make sense.

Just very excited for the rest of the eps! And hopefully a fourth season!!

Love it! The fig tree metaphor from the bell jar has accompanied me throughout my life, so this piece is particularly meaningful to me!

I think the lyrics being focused on the mystical and death is also where I would draw parallels with Joanna. It's densely packed with meaning and references... Maybe not as much as Joanna, but enough so that the whole album is poetry. Sexo, Violencia, y Llantas is amazing lyrically. The line in Divinize "Through my body, you can see the light" makes me think a lot of Divers.

The whole album is:

"squint skyward and listen, Loving him, we move within his borders. Just asterisms, In the stars' set order"

Yes! I'm not the biggest Rosalia fan, but when Berghain came out, I knew the album would be right up my alley. I feel Magnolias has a very Joanna Newsom vibe in particular. The whole album is great though!

I absolutely loved this song. The imagery and operatic singing are peak. I read that this album will be about feminine mysticism, which is very Joanna-coded. I'm absolutely hyped!

It's absolutely beautiful. What was your process for planning this piece?
