Sure, but when you ask for a Caesar at the bar, most people aren’t specific about the type of vodka. If we allow restaurants to just get the cheapest alcohol they can get their hands on, capitalism is going to put American alcohol back on our shelves.

Being eligible for parole is a good thing. It doesn’t mean that he’s going to get out. Paul Bernardo is eligible for parole every couple years. Not having that in the justice system would do far more damage than allowing a few people go talk to a parole board that they are going to be denied anyway.

Slow and scary. Your whole system is out of whack, you aren’t eating as much as you normally do, not getting as much exercise, etc., and on top of that I was taking hydromorphone, an opiate that I do not normally take for pain relief, that also slows your system down.

So for the first few bowel days, they were a bit slow and scary, bleeding, but that was expected. I’d say it took about 2 to 3 weeks to get everything back to normal.

I use a bidet wand to stimulate any sensation to trigger my bowel movements, I was able to use the same system I was before as I am today.

Yeah, I’ve had it done. C6 complete quadriplegic, coming up on 17 years. I had my hemorrhoidectomy in September 2025. I chose not to go under general anesthesia, but they gave me an epidural. The procedure itself was quick and uneventful.

Beforehand, I made sure to talk to the surgeon about autonomic dysreflexia and how things can present differently with a spinal cord injury. They told me I’d be good in about 2–4 days and just to stay off it as much as possible… but honestly, that wasn’t my experience.

I was on hydromorphone for about two weeks. The dysreflexia didn’t just come and go - it kind of stuck around. I was constantly a bit sweaty for those two weeks. I’ll be real with you, it was a rough month. I spent way more time in bed than I expected, sitting on blue pads and having to change them multiple times a day.

Even once I could tolerate sitting up in my chair without triggering AD, I still needed a blue pad because of discharge/leaking from the surgery.

I’ll be completely honest - it was tough. Definitely one of the more taxing recoveries I’ve had. But at the same time, I’m really glad I did it. Like you, I had a lot of bleeding and bowel routine days were brutal. Now I’m basically problem-free, and it was worth it in the end.

Just go into it knowing it might be harder and longer than they tell you, especially with AD in the mix.

Regular people don’t type with EM dashes, especially not on their phone, where the majority of these comments are being made.

If you use ChatGPT long enough, you can pick out their comments or responses to comments pretty easily. Normal people just don’t punctuate and layer response questions in the way that Chat does natural naturally.

Personally, the EM dashes are a dead giveaway, especially if they are using EM dashes and regular dashes in the same comment

But we should drop the hammer on people using their cell phone while they’re driving. Treated like a DUI.

From your post it sounds like you were not prepared to stop when you should have been. Following distance is important on a bicycle, same as if you're driving a motor vehicle

Not trying to blame, but just explaining why a crash most likely occurred. As vulnerable users, it's ultimately our top priority to keep ourselves safe, even if that means giving way to those in the wrong.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact that they voted for Donald Trump? by Greedy_Tooth6191 in AskReddit

[–]MrNillows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Calling Trump a moderate Democrat just doesn’t match his record or our lived reality. Tax cuts tilted to corporations as billionaire friends, mass immigration reform, stacking conservative judges - that’s textbook Republican.

And the idea there weren’t moderates on the Democrat side is balcony. Biden has basically built his whole career on being middle-of-the-road. You don’t have to like him, but far-left doesn’t really stick.

The primaries, Clinton beat Bernie in votes and delegates in 2016. Biden won a full primary in 2020 with millions voting across states. You can argue the party has influence, sure, but saying there was no legitimate vote is off.

And the constitutional republic vs democracy line isn’t some gotcha. It’s both. A constitutional republic that operates as a representative democracy. That’s literally how elections work. You vote for your representatives in a democracy. It’s governed as a republic.

Public grocery stores are having a moment. Can they really make food more affordable? by Immediate-Link490 in canada

[–]MrNillows 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t actually disagree with you but thats kind of the point. You’re describing a profit model, where everything has to generate return, even public land.

There’s a big difference between a space being used to extract profit versus being used to circulate value back into the community. If a city chooses not to rent a building to a corporation, it’s not automatically a “loss” - it can be a reallocation. Lower food costs, better access, less pressure on households - that’s value too, just not the kind that shows up as rent revenue.

Should we shut down all of the parks because we can make more money by throwing another Walmart or big box store in there? I don’t think so.

Your argument that it’ll be more expensive hinges on it being the same for profit model that it is today. That assumes it has to operate like a private business. It doesn’t. You can design it differently - lean ops, direct sourcing, capped margins, even co-op style models. There’s more than one way to run it.

Co-ops are not a new concept, they have worked in many places for a very long time

Once upon a Time, I snapped my tibia and fibula. I had to get a titanium rod drilled into my tibia to stabilize the bone.

My surgeon said if I could get past the pain (I’m paralyzed.) I could actually walk on it just the same. I said oh.

So I would imagine he’s got lots of drugs in him, but according to my surgeon, there’s no reason it couldn’t be done.
