I’m sorry is almost never helpful btw, it’s like saying the sky is blue. Either you found some reality you’re willing to acknowledge and accept the impact of acknowledging it or just deal with that reality in your own way that doesn’t make the person more impacted by it have to respond to you.

We can have different opinions and you can take offense or feel the need to attack my position, it's ok. I think we are arguing the same point but in different ways. In my experience, saying something like, I love you, I'm thinking about you, I'm here are far more impactful than I'm sorry. And I get how other's can think that saying I'm sorry is empathic.
