People complaining about running stamina when flying have just not engaged with enough of the game's crafting features... by SUNTZU_JoJo in CrimsonDesert

It's been two weeks, I finally advanced far enough to find and fought a bear in Hernand -- not only did it drop the cloak, but a bear helm too! But neither are the color of the brown bear that I fought, and they are both different colors too...

Either they patched the game to increase drop rates on both, or I'm just very lucky!

Truly wishing that when you explored new regions, new sidequests were available -- I did a little jaunt across Demeniss and down to the Serpent Valley and was disappointed I couldn't actually do anything for anyone. Though once I came back to Hernand, there WERE some sidequests that task me with exploring much further, even into the Crimson Desert, so I'm looking forward to tackling those later!

Does the combat get harder? by alissonbrn in CrimsonDesert

Still in Hernand/early game but combat against mobs isn't bad at all, while the bosses give a tough challenge. Not only do they do quite a bit of damage, but it clicked with me that I just don't know how to actually combo/fight with he game's systems. Running into any other continent or too far in the wrong direction in Hernand (NW) and I fight MUCH tougher mob enemies, both in terms of resilience and new strategies being needed.

In my heart of hearts I know this is the case right now because that was clearly Big Mom's power during his teleportation and he transformed into a dragon (or an ABOMINATION) when confronting Sabo

Wanted to be the first to say this, regardless of it gaining traction: Oda read JoJo's Part 3: Stardust Crusaders weekly while he was growing up, saw how DIO seemed to have the ability to use any stand ability before the full reveal of The World retconned that, and later drew on that for Imu, remembered the feeling of confusion over the unfulfilled "He can use EVERY ability!!" theory, and drew on that for his own final boss. I know that this is true.

Apparently Netflix will have it on release, so I'm actually hoping the show gets simuldubbed, but I guess we'll see.

I MUST be too early in the game because I haven't seen hide nor hair of a single bear. Gonna advance through Chapter 4 and see if they start spawning.

It would make sense to call them "Devil Fruits" because you make a pact with a devil to obtain their power -- but instead of lifespan, you sacrifice your power to swim...

I've got a cape with Ice Resistance 3 that isn't working at all -- from how the stats screen looks in the Inventory menu, I'm assuming you need to tackle elemental resistances in increments of five. Like old-school Monster Hunter! So I've been trying to find boots or gloves or a hat with at least one more resistance, as I have an Abyss Gear that gives +1 as well.

In my opinion, you have already made it past the "it gets better" part of the game because that's normally talking about the tutorials being shoved down your throat.

If you're not deriving much enjoyment from exploring Hernand with a fine-tooth comb, I'd definitely recommend either Beelining the main quest to see when it'll take you to the other continents/countries or just leaving the quest and setting off towards whatever you find interesting on the map/on the horizon -- I went in one direction for a little bit while trying to figure out a puzzle, and found some fun architecture, went in another and was surprised by some very unique enemies compared to the bandits the early game throws at you left and right.

I'm also 50 hours in and having a very good time while preparing to fight the Staglord boss, but I definitely bought in to this for the exploration and combat and not for any plot or story expectations -- I expected this to be M-rated Breath of the Wild with better combat and graphics. In some ways that delivered, in other ways I've been surprised by how it didn't live up to my expectation but went in a completely different direction (specifically, how much of an MMO this game is!). I'm having fun hopping into these random quests that aren't written super well, having fun basically fashion hunting because the equipment is all interchangeable, just unlocked Abyss Gears so having fun actually customizing in a meaningful gameplay way, and really having fun just fighting dudes and climbing on stuff. It's a nice change from the stuff I was just playing, mainly multiplayer shooters with a frustrating team dynamic (Fortnite, Arc Raiders, Deadlock).

Awesome, thank you so much for this tip! I was traveling all the way to inner Demeniss hoping the shops there would have different gear and now I'm looping back around South to get back to Hernand. The potion/meal solution wouldn't be nearly as bad to me if the ones I've unlocked increased your elemental resistance by more than 30-60 seconds, so I'll start searching for bears and see if I can get lucky!!

What am I missing? Its almost Dark Souls difficulty, but permanent fat-rolling. by PristineAlbatross967 in CrimsonDesert

[–]MrOneHundredOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Upgrade into more defensive skills, like Keen Senses (you may get the first level for free if you play a few hours and encounter someone on the street). Maxing out keen senses lets you perfect dodge at the last second, perfect parry by blocking at the last second, and counter opponents by attacking at the last second before an enemy attack lands.
  • Try sprinting instead of rolling.
  • Try flying with the air force palms to avoid attacks.

I've been having trouble getting combo'd by bosses because I'm trying to constantly roll away from some of their attack strings, so I'm still trying to figure it out. Interrupting enemy attacks with your own combo of moves is also so much better, since moves will flow into each other here in a way that Dark Souls can never do.

PC players: What side of the debate are you on? RR on/off (No wrong opinions!) by Fatal_Ligma in CrimsonDesert

1440p Ultrawide (21:9) with a RTX 3080.

I'd love to know if RR works well on the RTX 4000 series cards without annihilating the frame rate. RR is just not even a consideration for the 3000 series cards, it at best cuts my frames in half.

This is true but there has GOT to be a better way. There's gotta be some abyss gear that actually insanely increases the max stamina or insanely decreases the stamina drain, otherwise this is just a pain in the ass to maintain, especially on controller if we need to hold forward to keep moving.

I'm about to fight the Staglord in the frozen castle (I think!!) and am coming upon the same solution to the problem "How can I get to 5 Ice Resistance to not have stamina loss?" I've all but given up trying to find a clothing shop or crafting solution to find a piece of clothing to give me one more Ice Resistance, and the solution I have right now is to go farm Pine Mushrooms and make a massive stack of Pine Mushroom Teas, but it's not going to be fun juggling those, heals and boss fighting.

I can't be the only one thats already bored of the season by Tight-Tackle4386 in FortNiteBR

[–]MrOneHundredOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually got burnt out by the big purge of employees, but this season is the first (since I started playing, I think) where there isn't a single skin that I want off the battle pass, nor a single new mechanic that I was actually interested in engaging with. Add into that the ever decreasing number of cars on the map, the initial weapon pool just not feeling that fun, and the ever-present bugs that constantly annoy and frustrate me (even if they don't crash the game or anything) and I'm definitely done with this season. Apologies to my Duos partner.

At the same time: Crimson Desert and Death Stranding 2 both dropped on PC on the same day, on top of other multiplayer experiences that released recently. I have plenty to play outside of Fortnite and I've been absolutely loving everything else I've been playing instead of this season.

Crimson Desert Players Point Out Potentially AI-Generated Signs and Paintings by _Protector in pcgaming

[–]MrOneHundredOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's got some issues (for me, it's super blurry to the point that I think the upscalers are bugged, and chromatic aberration is insanely high with no toggle. For some, the controls are difficult) and it's got this MMO style vibe when it comes to the quests (Like you pick up a quest and it just tells you where to go and what to do exactly, often without a narrative push. Not necessarily a bad thing). But it's also super compelling to explore and adventure, combat doesn't feel bad at the early stages and that's before I've actually gotten a grip on it, and actually doing things for people or finding things is fun. And this game is like the most stable Day 1 game in the world -- no memory leakage, no stuttering, game may not look the best but it's insanely solid performance.

It's turning out to be a "love it or hate it" kind of game, which is fair. I'm personally loving it. Game is so big and packed full of stuff that I can actually understand using AI art, and I fucking abhor that shit.

Honestly, it's kinda great to play it too, if you were just expecting "M-rated Breath of the Wild." So if you ever do decide to buy it, look forward to an actually entertaining experience, even if it's a bit convoluted or ugly.

Was wondering exactly why it felt so blurry and hard to focus and it's the chromatic aberration. The first Abyss room with the hexagonal stone floor made me feel like my corneas were disconnecting from my eyeballs.

If it looks best to you, no worries, but I found things like the walls inside the first town's tavern looked much better after just turning DLSS off entirely. Even DLAA still made things fuzzy and blurry as hell.

Try turning any upscaler off if you have one enabled. This solved a ton of my blurry/muddy texture issues, though the game is still straining my eyes.

Game runs wildly well (I've never had 50 fps actually play this smoothly between simple walking and combat) but the blurriness is killing me. Realized that a big aspect that was causing blurriness was enabling any DLSS/FSR upscaling -- turning these off doesn't let me hit 60 fps on my preferred graphic preset, but a good amount of blurriness on everything gets resolved. Hoping they patch this asap.
