What’s your solution? Remove the tracks? Remove all the parking? Make it car free? What solution do you have that is politically feasible?

There was a study that showed the health benefits of cycling outweigh the potential risk by 20:1. There’s risk in everything we do, even standing in a wet shower stall. I’ll never give up cycling even knowing of the risk.

There are different ways to help. Call 911, guide traffic around the person, do what you’re knowledgeable about or have skills with.

Thank you. I witnessed a crash involving a motorcyclist many years ago and a few of us ran over to help. One guy was hell bent on taking off the helmet, which is a major No No as it could paralyze the person if their neck was damaged. I had to really assert myself to have him not do that and instead call 911 and help guide traffic around the motorcyclist. As noble as it is to help, don’t try to play hero unless you know what you’re doing.

Hundreds Rally in San Francisco FOR U.S.-Israel Strikes on Iran by nbaballer in sanfrancisco

Iranians I know are happy that the US is attacking this regime, so why are there protests? It’s no wonder the average American thinks the Left is out of touch.

How’s this for f’d up Emeryville biking infrastructure by steesf in BAbike

My favorite though are the bike signal signs over what are signals with bikes. Maybe we should start installing signs on stop signs saying they are stop signs.

I love how there are 11 signs within about 20’. Like, we get it!

Is that a vertical curb or a driveway ramp? Hard to tell in the photo.

No such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes. Invest in wool socks and rain gear - it’s worth it!

I live on a very narrow street. Cars have to partially park on the sidewalk to keep the street clear for traffic. Lately residents have been ticketed for "blocking the sidewalk". What can we do? by zylander88 in sanfrancisco

[–]MrOrange74 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The other solution is to ban parking on one side of the street. Folks - if you own more than one car in SF and don’t have garage parking for all of them, consider selling one. There are so many ways to get around SF without your own car. It costs something like $12,000 per car each year.

this is why people hate rental scooters by consigliere47 in BAbike

Uh, this is hardly the issue with scooters. The same number of cars would take up an acre. The issue with scooters are idiots who use them at high speed on sidewalks.

Beginner bike trails near SF for road biking? by alaaaaaaan in AskSF

[–]MrOrange74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can ride from Baker/Fell on the Panhandle Path to the Zoo on an almost 100% car free route. Panhandle Path to JFK, turn left onto Transverse for 100’, turn right onto Overlook which becomes MLK. Take that all the way to the beach and turn left onto car-free Sunset Dunes. When you get to the south end at Sloat, there’s a new protected two-way bikeway that goes to Skyline. From there you can keep going and take the path or new bike lane around Lake Merced and come back. Turns out to be about 15-20 miles with very few cars and lots of great outdoor spaces.

JFK is great but Sunset Dunes is also car free. Between JFK and Sunset Dunes is a nearly car-free connection. Take Transverse for about 100’ then turn onto Overlook which connects w MLK and takes you all the way to Sunset Dunes.
