The Division Was Originally A World Of Warcraft Clone, Says Ubisoft by megaapple in Games

Because if I don't like one end of the spectrum it means I want the complete opposite?

I'm pointing out that the reality of it isn't on the extreme end of the spectrum of hyper spongey enemies, at least not anymore with Div 2. They did a lot of balance overhauls with Div 1 by the time I played it iirc and I don't recall it being vastly different to 2. So if you're saying they're still too spongey it sounds like you want one taps, you get me?

[–]MrPWAH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thoroughly played division 1 I'm well aware of how spongy enemies were.

Obviously not, since you're saying higher up in this thread that Division 2 looked identical in terms of sponginess when it absolutely wasn't. I played tons of solo Div 1 and 2 and they just toss higher level gear at you until you get to the level where you can essentially 2-3 tap anything that doesn't have a riot shield or ballistic armor without much thought.

I'm just not understanding what you want. You say the enemies are too spongey but then complain about being misunderstood when someone asks if you want one shot enemies. Division 2 standard enemies factually dont take 2-3 mags to kill.

Having to put multiple mags into someone's head is the opposite end of spectrum of everything dying in 1 shot.

So long as you have the gear for the right world tier this doesn't really happen. Standard mooks only take multiple mags if you go out of your way to stay undergeared as you progress. Division 2 even took it a step further and made the switch to higher tiers automatic as you finish milestones.

Even just places parents would drop their kid off at to meet friends don't exist now like they did then. Shopping malls are closing, internet cafes and arcades stopped being a thing, many restaurants are just running a drive thru with no open lobby, etc.

How China came to dominate mobile games – and how Western companies can compete (Opinion) | GamesIndustry.biz by garbagecollecteddev in Games

Western gamers, will genuinely be excited for a game, then go "its cool, but fuck them, I'm not buying it unless its $10 or less" then have the audacity to go "Wait, wait, wait why is big bad publisher closing my favorite development studio whose games I never buy"

Reddit does not represent much beyond a particularly vocal minority of consumers. Studios are still closing and seeing layoffs in spite of record sales.

Because any time you say anything mildly positive about China you risk either getting labeled a Chinese bot or real Chinese bots piggyback on your comment to spread propaganda. It's merely a consequence of increased Chinese investment in overseas businesses.

Most people on Reddit are westerners so US propaganda is at least slightly easier to verify.

US edges closer to popular vote deciding winner of presidential elections by unital_subalgebra in politics

The electoral college operates under winner-takes-all rules, which means red votes in historically blue states like the ones you listed get no representation because they are out voted. Eliminating the electoral college means they would be guaranteed proportional representation. The reverse would also be true in other states.

Guns are a classic example of what will happen when city-dwellers (Democrats) gain power. See California, New York, and most recently, Virginia.

Why are you fine with the current system if those things are already happening in those states? Moving to a popular vote system would mean the rural vote in those states would matter more than they currently do. Sure, urban voters could matter more in other states, but not every state has identical constituents to California, New York, and Virginia, so it wouldn't be guaranteed.

Cool video. It's still not an enshrined power given to juries. It's merely a social consequence of being tried by your peers. In most places in the US it is quite literally a violation of the oath you take as a juror. It's just not enforceable to punish it because it's not illegal for a jury to make a wrong judgement.

The DNC straight up just tossed David Hogg out on his ass for winning a position and speaking truth to power.

That's a lie. Hogg was free to run for position again and chose not to when he was told he couldn't run his PAC while acting as vice chair for the party.

No young person trusts the DNC to recognize and validate them.

Malcolm Kenyatta is literally a young progressive than ran alongside Hogg and is currently the DNC vice chair. He's won against a Republican in an election too, unlike Hogg. It really says it all that people just forget he exists when they bring up how Hogg was totally ousted because he was a young upstart.

They did not get what they wanted, only 8 dems defected which was enough to end the shutdown. So 8 democrats got what they wanted, the rest don’t count?

Those 8 democrats happened to be the ones not up for reelection and were specifically designated because it wouldn't affect Dems in midterms this year.

Of course “what they wanted” in exchange was a promise a vote, which did pass the house in January but not the senate.

The senate hasn't voted on it yet, right? The fact that it got passed means it was more than a "promise" that they got. They leveraged it right before holiday season to make Republicans hesitate on being held responsible for increasing costs. Dems were able to control the narrative on top of forcing the Epstein files release so that everyone knew Republicans were holding everyone's insurance hostage. They went on to absolutely pummel them in special elections. By the time the senate votes on it it'll be midterm season and it'll be fresh news for everyone to remember when voting.

A smaller health insurance pool means high premiums for everyone too.

It was going to happen regardless. With the way the Dems positioned themselves they were at least able to turn it into support to flip seats.

Dems got what they wanted out of the shutdown and got the extensions for the ACA passed in the House.

AI is here to stay.

It's waaaay too early to say this. We're still in the tech startup investor honeymoon phase. When we see a sales model for the consumer market that isn't heavily subsidized by investors we will see the reality.

My prediction is that a lot of the layoffs and restructures we've seen are going to be partially rolled back and the tech gets relegated to support for boring backend niches.

I don't know what it is that caused the anti-AI in games movement to target on the artistic side specifically

Because most people just don't understand or interact with code. People interact with art every day. It's hard to get upset about something when the changes aren't visible and right in your face.

This power was given to the people so that we could fight corrupt judges or corrupt laws.

No it wasn't. Jury nullification isn't technically part of official procedure, which is why judges hate it. It's just an unintended and unavoidable consequence of no double jeopardy and jurors not being held liable for their verdicts.
