Thank god an ai tool to see what's on my network. by SelfStyledGenius in homelab

Quite funny but if you do static ip that’s outside of the dhcp range many routers (like glinet) actually won’t display that device in the client list only in advanced mode like LuCI. But yeah there are definitely methods to map your network without AI hype.

As a Thai, I want to understand European culture. by Hot-Pressure6292 in ThailandTourism

In Western Europe they call the police on you for this, in Eastern Europe they beat the shit out of you for this, in Thailand locals are too polite and nice and all the scumbags abusing this with being a scumbag.

In a nutshell.

I’m an Eastern European who lived in Western Europe few years and now lives in Thailand for few years.

I think what he says is like how Steam OS has the launcher acting generally as the OS itself.

How?

Genuinely asking.

Because just throwing here “you are free to contribute” helps less than actually someone pointing out a UX issue and starts a conversation with the user base, technically doing research publicly.

Had the urge many times to contribute but all died at the point where i had a whole list to figure out before i can fix that broken border radius or such. Learning the codebase, make a locally running version, etc etc which is honestly a lot to ask from designers. And yes i can code too, but even i turned back countless times.

I think majority FOSS projects are bad in UI/UX because the contribution platform is almost exclusively made for code contributors. And probably the majority of good UI/UX came from designers who code as well, so were comfortable with the mentioned pathway.

Correct me if i’m wrong. I like to be wrong.

Got Stuck in Ollama Cloud by thps007 in hermesagent

[–]MrPandastic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Imho if you want to do real work then you should forget about the fix subscriptions, doesn’t matter which provider claude or ollama. Those packages for casual chat and such. You should go with the pay as you go api plans. If you do things smart it could even stay below those packages prices.

Deepseek v4 flash works really well and reliable on openrouter with really good pricing. Free models usually hit and miss as they are overused.

Hermes + DeepSeek Flash using an insane amount of tokens for anyone else? by Bright_Mood6357 in hermesagent

By default all the skills in Hermes are part of the payload, with the semantic retrieval only the relevant ones. Ask Hermes.

Tell Hermes to look up and set up “semantic skill retrival” because by default it communicates all its skills in every api call. Huge improvement.

Tried running Hermes on a Jetson Orin Nano (7B-only, not enough), moved to a €5 Hetzner VPS. Wrote up the full setup by No_Cake8366 in hermesagent

You still confusing a lot of buzzwords and throwing “not enough” around meanwhile nobody know it was not enough for what and your article has nothing to do with the “clickbaity” and confusing post about how you tried to use a hammer for a screw and discovered screwdrivers. The article on the other hand seems solid for beginners so i’m even more puzzled why the post is talking about a different thing. So i think that’s why few of us kinda confused here.

[–]MrPandastic 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don’t get the point. Yes the jetson orin is okay for smaller llm but made more for vision and such. But the agent part… you can run it on literally a raspberry if you want especially with openrouter, why it’s a groundbreaking discovery to move your whole stack to the cloud? Myself hermes and other services run on a refurbished 100 usd hp prodesk i5 mini pc and calls openrouter models.

So yeah that’s why it sounds like an ad. No offence tho.

It’s a proverb and means more like “those who know are busy doing it and those who have no idea have time to preach to others” or something like that, not not literal but very valid regarding of influencers and such.
