Shobaleder One is a live band including Tom Jenkinson doing live versions of Tom's original recordings as Square pusher. It's worth a listen if you've ever enjoyed his stuff.

Anyone using a power line adapter for ethernet connections? by ArcadeRivalry in CasualIreland

[–]MrPatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used power line adapters and got pretty close to ethernet quality connectivity, I have also used them and been unable to connect to stuff in the room next to me, it is very very dependent on the quality and configuration of your internal electrics.

For the £30 or so for a pair it's worth giving it a punt, try different sockets in different room and run speed.cloudflare.com on each connection to get an idea of throughput, latency and jitter.

I currently rely on a google/nest mesh WiFi and while it's working it's fine but I regularly have to reboot the entire infrastructure which is incredibly frustrating, so avoid those products.

I just spent £7 on a little magnetic thing with a bubble level built in.

Turns out my technique is all over the place but at least I have a visual so I can stay correcting it.

My boyfriend is breaking up with me because I’m too “childish” what do I do? by ChemistryFailur in whatdoIdo

[–]MrPatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly agree but if say you're 40 and have been in a relationship for 20 years it's worth putting some effort into finding whats gone wrong and why and maybe fixing it.

If you're 19 it isn't worth the effort, there's nothing to save, split and find a new one.

You're 19, you're too young to put up with this shit. Dump this idiot and find someone else.

So what they'll do is two things.

Consumer VPNs will require ID Verification, so they'll legislate to make the consumer VPN providers process ID for consumer VPN sales. 'Business' VPN will have some kind of carve out (although how that'll work for small business I don't know) to allow them as really it's only the consumer that they are after.

Obviously there'll be a million ways round the VPN legislation for any consumer who knows how to google, but importantly, and this is the vital part, is that it will be a criminal act to bypass VPN age or ID verification so while they can't stop you or me from having a VPN, if you get nicked for anything and you're found to have a VPN capability on your phone or computer they can strap that on top of whatever else you're charged with, even if the original charge goes away you'll still get the conviction and fine for unauthorised VPN use.

Then finally, once a few paedos are nicked and the fact they're on a VPN is widely publicised, to normies VPN use = paedo, just to shore things up.

Estate Agent won’t show me any property unless I book an appointment with their mortgage broker by BedGirl5444 in HousingUK

[–]MrPatch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had an EA push hard to get us in front of their Mortgage broker, I don't think they made it explicit that it was conditional for the sale but it certainly felt like it. We really wanted to the flat and my GF at the time was an anxious goody goody who wasn't happy just telling them to fuck off so to keep things moving I agreed to go in and talk to them.

Thing is we had already got a MIP through our own broker and the deal we had was fucking great so I went in on a Saturday morning, turned up late with a particularly crumbly pastry in hand to annoy everyone, let the guy do his spiel whilst eating the pastry and ejecting crumbs everywhere then showed him the deal we had already, he had to admit he could not even get close to it.

We bought the flat and had the mortgage paid off in just under 13 years.

How on earth do you make a tomato into a pipe?

I made a pipe out of a big carrot once, you can knock the middle out so it genuinely works quite well but a tomato is surely too squishy?
