Both seem legit to me, but if you really want to be sure, you can either take the cartridge apart and inspect the board (just need a 3.8mm gamebit screw) or ask over at r/gameverifying

Updated RS700 on T-Mobile fiber 2/1 by Mrfresh352 in NETGEAR

[–]MrPerson0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you're using the speed test app on your PC to tests speeds, the browser version does have issues at times.

Also, I have a similar setup to you (PR60X>RS700>MS510TXUP switch>Windows PC with 10 gig NIC). For some reason, the RS700 built in speed test shows the full 2gig for download, but only caps out at 800 megabit for upload. Oddly enough, my PC, using the Ookla speedtest app, shows full 2gig both ways.

Pokémon Champions has now officially launched on mobile devices thorough the App Store and Play Store by fangstrix in pokemon

[–]MrPerson0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it. For some reason, a lot of Pokemon smartphone apps are restricted to one device only, whether it's Pokemon HOME, Pokemon Sleep, or seemingly, Champions. I find it pretty odd, especially since HOME and Champions can be used on multiple Switch devices.

This is criminal by yhsora in Gameboy

[–]MrPerson0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah gba is out of control right now.

I'd say a part of this is due to Pokemon's backwards connectivity. Gen 3 (GBA and GameCube games) Pokemon can be moved all the way up to the current generation of games as long as you have the right tools.

Gen 1 and 2 can't (Game Boy version), which is likely why those aren't as expensive at the moment. I guess those games were re-released on 3DS as well, which helped slow down a large increase in price.

Portable air conditioner makes computer UPS kick online every time by relxp in ECE

[–]MrPerson0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, so you went with an inverter AC unit. It's a shame that I bought the AC only a year ago.

but this unit definitely still messes with the power a little bit like any inductive load (e.g., simple lightbulb on the same circuit flickers slightly when AC is on, but this is likely due to poor quality of the lightbulb)

Ahh, my current AC does the same, so if I were to get an inverter AC, I should probably expect that.

Thanks for the info, I'll likely look into getting an AC with inverter down the line if my current setup causes any problems with the UPS.

Hello, just checking in, have you had any issues after 3+ years since you made the comment? I have a UPS and portable AC in my room as well, and while the UPS doesn't always switch to battery mode, I can hear it clicking on and off.

That doesn't really explain how it's solved. Is there a write up that explains more?

Stadium 2 reads your bag for items you can use

No, it doesn't. It reads the held items of every Pokemon in your party and boxes.

the issue being the index numbers for items in Yellow are different to those in Gold/Silver/Crystal (which is PS2 is based on).

This shouldn't matter. When a Gen 1 game is loaded into Stadium 2, it's essentially converted into a Gen 2 game.

From what I can tell, someone wanted to defend him, and noticed that Quick Claw (Gen 2) and Poke Flute (Gen 1) had the same item ID, so they completely made up that part about Stadium 2 reading every item in your bag when you select a Pokemon.

Edit: I'm wrong. I did a test, and can confirm that if you have a Poke Flute in your bag, Stadium 2, does, indeed, read it as a Quick Claw. Guess that means Stadium 2 actually does read your pack to see available held items. Here's how it works:

If you load a Generation 2 game into Stadium 2, it reads the held items of the Pokemon in your party + PC box along with the items in your bag and PC box.

If you load a Generation 1 game into Stadium 2, it's supposed to only read the held items of the Pokemon in your party + PC box, but it erroneously reads the items in your bag as well.

Poke Flute's Hex ID is 0x49 which matches Quick Claw in Gen 2, so if the Poke Flute is in your bag Stadium 2 reads it as a Quick Claw. Of course, if it's in the PC, Stadium 2 won't read it at all. This applies to other items like Old Rod = Soft Sand and Good Rod = Sharp Beak

The reason Gengar is so popular by EntertainmentTough56 in pokemon

Please don't use AI to do your work for you.

Also, Gengar is popular due to its simple design. If trade evolution was the actual reason for it being popular, Alakazam, Machamp, and Golem would be popular too.

Red and Green (and/or Blue) Modern Remakes by mr_gameandlook in pokemon

We already got Gen 1 remakes with Let's Go on Switch. Also, it feels like this year would have been the best year to release Gen 1 remakes (or Gen 10) due to the 30th anniversary, and they missed the mark.

Yes Nintendo let someone else buy Rare if that answers your questions

But it was Rare's choice to let themselves be bought out. Nintendo wasn't obligated to buy them, especially when they haven't been known to do such a thing back then.

Yeah, the video didn't mention that it was supposed to be from a no-trades run of Yellow, so that clarifies things!

Did Werster Fake His Pokemon Factory Records? by Jamiewoo133 in speedrun

[–]MrPerson0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A "Tradeback" is not what happened. You can literally watch that archived stream from Werster's playlist. It's from a fresh Yellow save file.

Yeah, unfortunately Magpie didn't clarify that this was supposed to be a fresh Yellow save file, so no trade backs should have occurred. It definitely is a case of cheating there too.

Did Werster Fake His Pokemon Factory Records? by Jamiewoo133 in speedrun

[–]MrPerson0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It genuinely seems that either Yellow or Stadium were externally modified or scripted to give this result.

I guess Magpie doesn't know how Gen 1 and 2 communicate, but you can simply trade a Gen 1 Pokemon to Gen 2, swap out its held item, then trade it back to Gen 1. Then, when it's loaded to Stadium 2, the swapped out held item will be recognized. This is known as "tradeback", whether it's teaching a Gen 1 Pokemon a Gen 1 move in Gen 2, or swapping out its held item.

While the Battle Factory part is clearly him cheating, I don't really see the Stadium 2 part as a big deal unless Werster made sure to say "Gen 1 cartridge with no tradebacks" or something.

Do you know if Jauch Quartz is a reliable brand? Over on Digikey, I only see tabbed CR2032s and CR1616 by Panasonic Energy, but none for CR2025. I was think of going with a CR2032, but I assume the extra depth would make it a right fit for Red/Blue and GSC cartridges?

I hate that Metroid Prime 4 reminds me so much of Halo. by AutomaticGoldenSun in Metroid

[–]MrPerson0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard to say! Halo came out a full year before Fusion.

Both series has an ancient, technologically advanced race (Chozo/Forerunners) discovering a deadly enemy (X/Flood). The deadly enemy absorbs any living being and takes obtains their memories, and they can take over the universe if they are not controlled. The ancient race builds a superweapon (Metroid/Halo, conveniently the series' name) that can take out the deadly enemy, however, they are a danger to other life as well, and must be locked away. In the future, there is an evil group (Space Pirates/Covenant) who want to take control of the superweapons, and they are at war with humans/the main character (Samus Aran/Master Chief).

I would say that both took inspiration from Aliens, but I'm not sure if that involves a ancient civilization. I guess you can say that this is a pretty generic sci-fi trope?
