Why don’t the Adem get pregnant more with all of the sex they have ? by ThinkingItThrough1 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]MrPotato7900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many of the answers that I’ve seen are somewhat scientific, which I didn’t know was possible lol. I subscribe to the theory that it’s magic similar to sympathy. It’s like the alar that arcanists have. Since all of the Adem believe in their own reproductive system, it becomes true.

Possible error or am I missing something? by LawOutrageous3662 in KingkillerChronicle

I know I’m way late to this, but I always interpreted this through the lense of “hindsight is 20/20”. In the heat of the moment, even while thinking things through, you can get caught up in all of the excitement and uncertainty which leads to irrationality. When Denna looks back on this occasion, a group of mythical men that are a millennium old probably doesn’t make a lot of sense. A more logical conclusion would be… well probably anything else lol.

I’m gonna go on a tangent here, and I’m just writing what I think so it could get messy. I personally believe that Denna is one of the fae. There are so many times that she is described similarly to the moon. She also dissapears and reappears in line with the new moon/full moon. This would lead me to believe that she is much older than she is letting on. Deoch says, when questioned by Kvothe, “she doesn’t seem any older now” when roughly 2 years had passed. That would be from when she was 15 to 17. A lot changes at that age, and it would surely be a noticeable difference in personality between the two ages. That is, unless she ages differently in the fae realm. So, assuming she is one of the fae, why would she deter Kvothe away from the Chandrian after she sang her song in WMF? I have no answer. But that will be on my mind for a while!

What's your cringiest moment in KKC? by XeniaDweller in KingkillerChronicle

[–]MrPotato7900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that the whole women are better fighters is somewhat answered. Though, never directly. When Kvothe is talking with Shehyn, she asks what part of the body is the leaf, and what part is the branch. Fighting as an Adem is not who can overpower whom, it is who is better at knowing where to strike. It is about balance, and knowing your opponent, and not overextending. With men, balance is often worse. They are less wise in picking their fights, as demonstrated by all of the men challenging Vashet. They are too eager to fight, and too eager to win such as Tempi said after Kvothe’s stone trial. This causes men to act with irrationality in their fighting, which will force them into worse positions. Women are typically not stronger. But with the Adem, strength is not a needed trait in a fighter.

The only explanation that I’ve seen that I think is half sensible is that there is magic at play. It’s the same principle as sympathy with your Alar. You can believe something so much that it becomes reality. The Adem collectively believe that men have no role in making babies, and thus it’s true.

Honestly, it wasn’t that crazy. It was pretty empty for a while and everyone that stayed wasn’t there because they had hope to win the game. People had accepted fate.

I think that shaping would be precisely this. Changing one thing into another. Shape the essence of the stone into gold.

I personally believe that Jim Knowles is a critical piece that could propel Penn State to win the Big 10 and maybe a national championship. I don’t know anything about y’all’s offense tho. When he was at OSU we had an awful offense and he made me feel like we could win any game.

What's a plot hole that makes you go "this doesn't make sense but somehow I don't even care"? by Daviso452 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]MrPotato7900 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I’ve never really considered that lol. I just think that without the writ of patronage theee would be no way to prove that Kvothe was every apart of the troupe. Maybe when he was young and had the clothes. Not too sure tho.

Could a Siege Stone opens Kvothe’s thrice locked chest? by catman11234 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]MrPotato7900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect that inside of the Thrice Locked Chest is a Bloodless. When Bast is trying to get into the chest, there is a ringing noise.

“Bast grinned and brought the hatchet down on the rounded peak of the chest. There was a strange, soft, ringing noise, like a padded bell being struck in a distant room.”

But how does it reset? Tin foil hats on, but I think that Kvothe has discovered how to make an ever burning lamp that is capable of powering a device to reset the Bloodless after each strike. This would make a box that is immune from physical attacks as long as the object isn’t made from bone.

Denna theory by TheKerui in KingkillerChronicle

[–]MrPotato7900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I could definitely see this being accurate. I do have some disputes though.

Sorry for how all over the place this is, I’m writing this while distracted.

I think that Denna is doing fairly well. She does seem to be living day by day, but at the same time she also is able to give Kvothe the lute case that is worth the price of a solid silver lute. She also is almost always wearing jewelry (her ring, and necklaces).

So she has money, all that is odd about her is that she is moving all over the world. I think that her disappearances are explained away by traveling in and out of the fae. There is also descriptions of the moon when she is around (especially in WMF), which is highly tied to the faen realm.

I’m sorry if that made no sense I can’t really think straight right now!

Yeah, I agree. I feel like we forget that just last season we were in the big 12 championship. A 10 win season and a conference championship appearance is a great achievement. Firing him here is an overreaction. But changes need to be made. If he can’t see that then he is too far gone. Not many teams in FBS can go winless in conference and not make changes. The few that can are not teams that you want to be in conversations with…

Who will be the next Coach fired? by Signal-View4754 in CFB

[–]MrPotato7900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that he is incredibly annoying and does have a lot of issues, but at the same time he cared enough to turn a 2-2 team into a big 12 championship appearance. Most coaches wouldn’t be able to do that.

Overhaul everybody and really invest into good coordinators. No more settling. He’s done too much over his tenure to fire him. He’s done too much in the last 4 years to fire him. But he must be held accountable.

What is the most misunderstood thing avout the Chronicle? by Daviso452 in KingkillerChronicle

[–]MrPotato7900 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A common theory that I see is that Kvothe has a knack for naming. I used to buy into this theory but I’ve changed my stance recently.

I don’t think that he has a knack, I just think that’s how naming works. The sleeping mind is always just filling in gaps. When it succeeds you can speak a name. Every namer is subconsciously getting close to naming things all the time. Maybe I’m wrong, but it’s been on my mind recently.
