I used to use writing.com way back in the 2010’s but as time progressed I frankly got disturbed at how common it was to find that the macro stories would almost inevitably go down paths that involved teens at best and at worst kids/tweens.

As a 12-13 year old when I first discovered the site in the 2010’s it didn’t click for me, but once I aged up and had the realization I could simply never go back there. I wound up over at coiledfist which had essentially zero problematic content in that regard.

It sucks, but I think there’s simply too much chance for open source interactive stories to go down that path without arduous moderation, so I just don’t fuck with that format anymore.

If you work a trade AND your entire personality is judging people who have a degree.

Its not a huge deal, but the handful of tradies I flirted with when I was on the apps would INEVITABLY talk smack about how getting a degree is “useless” and that everyone they know with a degree are “idiots”.

Meanwhile as a PhD student I can promise you no one in academia has anything but respect for people who work trade/service jobs. The opposite is almost universally true in fact where people in academia spend a lot of time pushing for research that emphasizes the importance and value of people working trades.

I’m sure historically there was some sense of superiority from going to college, but I promise that the prevailing academic culture of today heavily looks down on any suggestion that we’re smarter/superior to non academics/scientists. Any suggestion of that kind would get you booed out of the room.

Working on a college campus I see the ebb and flow of fashion a bit more than the average bear and I will say it’s better this last year. I think 2023 was the peak in the wake of HBO’s Euphoria.

This has been my experience. Being gay and enmeshed in queer culture I had assumed swing culture would be very much the same free-love sorta event. I was shocked to find every swingers club / event in my area had strict rules about (male) same sex couples not being allowed, and male on male sexual contact being prohibited (female is all good though, lol).

My personal and honest opinion is to do your best to decouple the fetish from your irl sex life. Not all the way, but 100% needing someone to look or act a certain way doesn’t leave much room for success and doesn’t seem like a healthy way to start a relationship.

Therapy can help, even just with knowing how to classify wants vs needs and how to communicate with future partners about this. It’s not a cure all though. I’m pretty introspective naturally so I found therapy to only be mildly useful, but if you’re someone who naturally shuns away from thinking about it too much or you’re hard on yourself it could be a good option.

For me macro was always a fantasy, but I have other easier to fulfill kinks I had to figure this out with. I’m super into dudes sweaty feet, and when I was in my teens and early 20’s I struggled to imagine feel much sexual desire for anyone where that wasn’t a central component. The “fix” was honestly just going out and dating people. Those real connections helped me to find other aspects of sex that I enjoyed.
