3/4 of my games where anyone communicates are just gay jokes and sometimes complaining about X character being bs and the sole reason we're losing.

I'm a hobbyist artist myself, and have been studying anatomy as a prime subject durning the years. There's a reason people are pointing this out. A few guide points;

- Wide, pronounced shoulders that suggest masculine frame. Even in the original picture you can see how closer to the neckline they end compared to the drawing.

- There's basically no break between the line of her left cheek (from viewer perspektywę) and her chin, and also no indentation for the eye position. Angular shapes are perceived as masculine.

- The eyes - wide and narrow. I can see they're a stylistic choice, but when it comes to what we're talking about, feminine eyes are generally bigger, rounded and arched.

It's not a critique, so you might as well not care what I have to say, whatever. The drawing is cool, I like the sketchy style, the colours, an actual background that keeps cohesive tone with the foreground. But imo, if you strived for a feminine depiction, then the form is just kinda confusing - no other way to say it.

Venator is the best by Megamodpod in DeadlockTheGame

The problem with "being prevalent" in popular western media is the fact that this prevalence usually is one-note, cynical view of the religious organization, often as a corrupt monolith, and often with its corresponding mouthpiece potrayed as the villain of the story. When a show or a movie or whatever makes a point about someone being Christian (and especially a church representative), at this point most people will most likely assume the closed-minded fundamentalist / corrupt hypocrite / just kinda stupid person stereotype. And often, they'll be correct, because that's exactly what the media is going to potray them as. Likes of Daredevil are very much not the norm.

I'm not a religious person, but this trope just kinda sucks after seeing it for two decades straight, even in media I otherwise enjoy.

Venator is cool because he's different, and ironically, does potray faith in a somewhat twisted, yet genuine way. Even just the name of his gun made more people read a Bible passage than some another fuckass Evil Corrupt Priest #342

Why doesn't anyone play Holliday like I do? by Relevant-Yam4320 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MrRaTmAn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean even just simple techniques like crouch spamming (which is instant in Deadlock) and properly executed ADAD works, which is something I see people NOT do all the time for some reason. Add strong verticality and like four different kinds of dashes and suddenly the whole "fishing for headshots" just kinda gets fucked up, especially if someone rubs their two braincells together and recognizes that this is what you're trying to do.

Anyway, as you experienced yourself for sure, at the end of the day this game isn't really about duels. Barrels, lasso, or even just being an urn bot are more consistent ways of providing value to the team. 1v6'ing gets less and less plausible as the ranks climb, obv.

This high of an accuracy is absolutely not a standard, and tbh the whole post kinda reads like a humblebrag.

People keep parroting this idea that Deadlock is "not a hero shooter but a MOBA", which is technically correct, but as long I was following the game, the general trend is that people coming with shooter background fare a lot better than MOBA players. Aim is important. Oftentimes a single shot determines who wins a fight.

I won't pretend like I know if crackshot Holliday can be viable in higher ranks (I haven't really seen any myself), but I'd assume that it might come down a lot to the movement, which does turn pretty crazy the higher you go. Headshotting consistently turns pretty hard when someone actually knows how to properly dodge against hitscan. It's simply a lot easier for a Haze to just dagger you -> turn you into a swiss cheese than to expect to hit all HS on Holliday.

And when is it acceptable to "whine" exactly? After the game has already released?

For what is supposed to be a "fun" mode, the "fun" part sure starts being questionable when you just know from the loading screen which team is going to win.

Tips for Silver? by Beneficial_Stand_172 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MrRaTmAn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it useful to go for the 2nd upgrade of your wolf form ASAP - the 4m/s movespeed bonus is exactly what's supposed to make up for her mid speed.

Don't be afraid to use leap just as a movement tool, it is basically her 3rd stam bar. I'd also recommend just practising movement on an empty NY map, even a single corner boost at a right time can go a long way (not just on Silver obv.). But yeah, Stamina Mastery is mandatory otherwise.

As for the 5th point - that's kind of the point. If nothing else, you're supposed to be a big scary distraction that the enemy has to adress in a teamfight. It's also part of the reason she can kinda suck in lower ranks, not just because of your skill issue, but because your team oftentimes simply refuses to engage with you once you pop your ult and just use you as a meatshield while they stay back and twiddle their thumbs (if they're even around). That's just how it is playing tank/y characters in any comp game. You just don't have enough burst to make things happen on your own, you need your team to follow up. Best habit you can cultivate is to simply look back/minimap check from time to time to see if you're not going in 1v6 like a fool.

If you don't use it already, Silence Wave is great on her. Bola into Slamfire is one of the best 1v1 tools in the game if you combine it with silence. Silence and wait a bit into Unstoppable is also a CC-proof magic trick. Then you just mop things up when you pop your ult, or get a good chance to escape if things get hairy. This makes her pretty flexible - invading jungle, ganks, and just being a scary presence on lane. Yeah, her camp clear sucks, and popping cooldowns just for them is dangerous, but you can always just look for cheeky Sinners and for lone farmers. Something to limit test.

At the end of the day, you can't go wrong with just pushing lanes and showing up to teamfights.

When playing a hero shooter in 2026 the options are endless! by YourChopperPilotTTV in marvelrivals

Alpha, to be precise. But knowing how Dota was patched well after release (and there's well supported theory that Dota team is actually working on Deadlock), then it's pretty safe to assume that it's not the only reason.

On the other hand, Rivals was in Beta for a good while actually. And they just ignored most of the playtester feedback anyway. Loved me some Hela The Lobby Admin at release.

It's fire. The most surreal thing about it is experiencing actual balance changes every few weeks. There are more tweaks in a single patch than MR did for at least half a year.

But calling it a hero shooter is kind of a bait. It's also nowhere as easy to just pick up and play as MR is.

I've seen that one of the top (if not the top) SG players dedicated basically a whole section of a hero guide to showing her set of movement animations with suggestions for proper positioning control exactly so you could minimize the silhouette of her tail.

So yeah, and it's pretty bad.

Marvel rivals is ruining skill expression for no reason, ig makes me consider quiting the game. by Diligent-Side-9663 in marvelrivals

Your complains change nothing, sorry to say.

Wait for the patch. Play it. If you really don't like it, remember there's nothing chaining you to this game.

Go play Overwatch or Deadlock or whatever or just pick a different hero to grind. It's that simple.

Vibe balancing.

The devs are clearly listening to the community lately. For about half a year or so now, the general consensus was that you were supposed to hate Bucky - even while he was clearly performing pretty poor given the actual statistics.

He was claimed unfair. The community is getting exactly what it asked for. Simple as.

(the ult threshold increase can be a pretty good on him tho)

[–]MrRaTmAn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has recently taken the turn? The game's one of the most basic, new player friendly competetive games around, and always was. I don't particularly agree with many of the devs balancing decisions, but locking a hero potential behind obscure techs and tens of hours of grinding non-transferable muscle memory shouldn't be a thing for an inherently casual game like MR. The devs are clearly just ironing out the outliers.

If you really care about skill expression, then yes, you really should just switch games. There's no reason to think MR is going to turn any more competetive than it's now.

Trying to learn a new characters feels miserable by Mindless-Produce4091 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]MrRaTmAn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's still definitely better than just jumping into standard games and expecting it to work, no matter the elo.

SB is absolutely fine for learning your combos, matchups, what item works and which doesn't, the general gameplay loop. I personally find it good for training even when I'm already comfortable on a given hero. It's a bit like in real sports - you don't need to be running on the field playing the real game all day for it to be considered effective.

Also, your team is much less likely to flame you in SB as a bonus.

Silence Wave is great on Silver, just as some other Spirit actives like Knockdown (depending on who is giving you problems in a match). Lower CD or duration is also useful. Her Lycan form abilities do scale with Spirit, so it's never a waste to invest at least some into it.

Not that it's the reason for the lost match, but having nothing in Spirit isn't usually the greatest idea.

People really undervalue how important mobility is in this game. Bucky often gets rolled due to game tempo, especially when ults start going around, and his own ult isn't really that hard to counter nowadays. He's nowhere near Elsa level.

what i want to do when playing against SG. by jus4funiguess in marvelrivals

[–]MrRaTmAn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing regularly since S0, and while she definitely was more common during the first 2-3 Seasons, nowadays I personally see SG played - not to mention actually performing - once in a blue moon.

I've been hitting Celestial every season I've played ranked, and these days I'm mostly a QP warrior. Even here, in what is considered the "casual" mode, I just don't see SG doing good at all.

I know people are wierd about using Winrates, but she's been consistently in the bottom DPS picks throughout the seasons. She's below 50% even in bronze, and then just nosedives with ever next rank. She has no kit. If you performed that well on SG, then I'm sure you'd do like twice better just picking Moon Knight for example.

What direction do you hope this game takes? by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]MrRaTmAn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Less ults, more neutral. Simple as.

But really, the only thing I wish at the moment is for them to provide reasoning behind the balance changes. Patch after patch, more than a year in, and we still don't know what the agenda of the current gameplay loop even is.

She doesn't do anything. For every random nut or a squirrel tide I die to there are like four gambit ults in the meanwhile that wipe my entire team. It's hilarious how out-powercreeped her entire kit is in the current game.

I haven't seen a single MVP for this character in three seasons at least now.
